Good to see they're trying to get out in front of the time spent issue. This along with pretty good COA at the schools will make us more competitive

RE: Some CUSA Winter Meeting News
True. That, and the news of the them being pleasantly surprised about the contract negotiations was good stuff.

The more I think about it, the more appealing less conference games sound. Going from 18 to 16 would probably hurt us more in the short term since it'd probably mean the conference RPI taking more of a beating, but I feel like it'd do the stronger programs some good. Also, I think having the conference tournament on a three or so city rotation would be better than just setting up shop here. I'm not complaining or anything, but it is way more fair to the other members to have it on rotation.

Can we read into the three year CUSA basketball tournament rotation that Bham will probably get it again in 2017?

It's possible. But I would prefer for the tournament be on a three city rotation that switches every year.

Im guessing they,re saying three year rotation, because that gives other cities two years to get their act together if they want to put in a bid.

My guess is the next location will be Charlotte or Nashville.

Bridgestone Arena is booked for the SEC Tournament through 2025, with the exception of 2018 (St. Louis) and 2022 (Tampa).

How many southeastern cities have the dual facilities to provide venues for MBB and WBB at the same rime as the C-USA seems to demand? And how many of those are not already signed up by other leagues?

Shreveport - Bossier City is going to get a tournament soon. They would have gotten it this year had UAB not brought football back.

I really enjoy the C-USA coverage by Harry Minium in the Virginian-Pilot. He does a very good job.

The conference stated the lack of an adequate second facitlity for the women's tourney was a major factor in Shreveport not getting the tournament this year. Has that situation changed?

Quote:Tech had prepped a bid to host the event in Shreveport-Bossier City with the CenturyLink Center used as the main site and Centenary as the women's site for early-round action.

Ultimately, Centenary as a secondary site was the downfall in Tech's bid.

"That's basically the feedback I've heard," McClelland said. "No one seems to have a problem with CenturyLink Center. No one seems to have a problem with Shreveport-Bossier. I think the hangup with the alternate facility."
