Conference 2nd half
What must we do to get #1 Seed? Our competition is:

Temple 5-3
Tulsa 5-3
UConn 4-3
Memphis 4-3

Our schedule is:

USF
@Memphis
@UCF
ECU
@Tulsa
UConn
@ECU
@UH
SMU

5 games we definitely should win. Cannot afford to lose any of these. 4 tough games we must at least split (Memphis, Tulsa, UConn, SMU).

That would mean 13-5.

I fear UConn when they get Brimah back.

Actually Cincy might be favored in every game now. At UM and at Tulsa may be the toughest ones as they're away. 7-2 seems reasonable

Feel very strongly that 8-1 will get them the one seed. That is absolutely doable.

Lots of empty seats last week at Memphis when I saw their game on TV. I think the Tiger fans have given up on their season so FedEx may not be as tough a venue for UC as we've seen in the past.

Last night's game could (should) be the turning point for putting this team on a fast track to the NCAA. They're getting better as the season rolls along.

Friday 3/11
ECU/USF vs. (1) Cincinnati

According to Live-RPI were favored to win every game the rest of the year. Aside from the first Temple and USF games we've played pretty well most of the year. I'd love to win at least 8 and climb hopefully better than the 8-9 game.

24-7 14-4 in the league probably will be good enough for a share of the league title if the Cats beat SMU in the finale. SMU has UConn twice, Memphis twice, road games at Cincinnati and Houston and a home game with Tulsa. They will lose at least three more games. That locks up no worse than a seven seed as long as UC avoids a loss in the first game of the conference tournament.

I tend to believe that UConn and Cincinnati make the tournament. Temple and Tulsa need to go on a run but are still in the mix. Memphis has to win three out of the next four which includes at SMU, UConn, Cincinnati, at Houston.

at this point, you have to wonder if the Memphis players are starting to tune out - rough year, and rumors about their coach - not a good situation

I see two or three losses realistically in that stretch.

We could win out, sure. But more than likely not.

UC is quite capable of losing any of its remaining conference road games. A loss to an improving ECU team would be quite devastating from a national profile standpoint. The lower tier of this conference is dreadful and in many years will prevent the league from getting more than 2-3 teams in the dance.

I think Coach and his naked scalp brain trust has this team believing and playing its best basketball right now which is good news with March approaching. Winning a close game against a quality opponent, and on the road at UConn no less, has to improve their confidence and mental resolve and should set the tone moving forward. I like our chances to finish 7-2 with the remaining slate of conference games. This still puts us in good position to take the #1 seed.

RE: Conference 2nd half
I think our competition for the #1 will be Temple and then UConn. Temple has head to head tie breaker.

Temple has the easier schedule with ECU,USF,TULSA 2, UCF 2, UCONN, UH, MEM, TULANE

UCONN has UCF 2, MEM,ECU, TEMPLE, TULSA, SMU 2, UC, USF, UH

I fear we end up #2 to Temple and then face UConn at full strength in third round.
