Womack obviously did sign with JMU, but he’ll go through the same process as all the other walk-ons.

Have to think he was promised a scholarship, and Houston is expecting some attrition.

The JMU Sports article states 20 kids, but only lists and shows profiles for 19. Presumably, based on Womack's tweets and pictures, he should be that 20th and was just left off the article by accident or they are in the process of updating.

Quintin Reynolds the 3 star(?) WR transfer from ODU was not included in the list either. He is enrolled at JMU.

He received an offer from UVA late in the recruiting process in 2014 prior to signing with ODU.

Crazy to think he would commit to that with the other offers he had on the table but I'll take it.

It's got to be a technicality. No way does he pass up a full ride to Georgia Tech to pay to play at JMU. It will be a matter of anticipated attrition.

Gillespie will be signing later today from Atlee HS, I'll actually be at the ceremony for another new Duke for the softball team. I believe Raymond is a preferred walk-on as well, but he is actually signing which has caused some confusion regarding the ceremony.

RE: Football Signing Day
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Womack had scholarship offers from some other schools, so it's highly unlikely he'd be a walk-on here. I guess with his late decision they need to find a way to free one up and is classified as a walk on until that happens.

I don't know the rules, but I assume the NLI still binding even without a scholarship offer so there doesn't need to be any worries with him flipping?

Have to remember that "offers" aren't good for perpetuity. Classes fill up, and those offers aren't good anymore.

I don't know if that was the case here. Also had offers from Marshall, ODU, and NC State in addition to GT.

Not sure how the Schollies work but Blaine Stewart tweeted that he is finishing up his last 2 years at Charleston. Could this be his spot?

Yeah, I'm sure there will be some cuts/drop outs after spring ball.

It's probably a caching issue with the site. There are twenty listed with Adeeb Atariwa at the bottom. I noticed a few times when I refreshed the page his profile didn't show up.

Correct, Raymond was offered a preferred walk-on. Rumblings of prep school though....

RE: Football Signing Day
How many threads did we have about attrition from EW leaving? Not only did the recruiting class lose virtually no one, it's pretty beastly.

This is a stellar class for the FCS level in my humble opinion.

Yeah, maybe it was never a realistic concern, but I'm just gonna give credit to Bowers and Houston for keeping it together.

I've heard that as well, I hope not. The last Atlee kid we had that took that route ended up signing with VT instead.

I agree. He was my biggest concern. He is going to be big time for us. Wash Post - All Met. Big motor. Seems like a good kid.

Welcome aboard John Daka!
