Raiders might move to Las Vegas
and share a stadium with UNLV. Would this make them attractive to the AAC?

Who? The Raiders? No, I don't think so.

On a serious note, Vegas is the perfect place for the Silver-and-Black.

Yup. That's a perfect fit between franchise and city.

I wonder if the NFL would be okay with it. It's not as if people who don't want to gamble and fix games can't do it, you don't have to go to the bookies to do it.

I know it would never happen, but there been a lot of gossip about OKC being a destination for them as well.

I thought that San Antonio would be better. Ok, does this change anything for UNLV?

RE: Raiders might move to Las Vegas
It would probably help UNLV. There's no other pro sports in Las Vegas and it would be a facility that would elevate their football program, as their basketball one is here to stay.

Then again the inverse is also very possible but I say again, there's no pro sports in Vegas.

UNLV has been toying with a new stadium for a while now. Assuming it gets done I like them for the AAC (if the we're expanding), but I am partial to Vegas.

it is the perfect fit for a Pro Football team there given some of their fanbase demographics. California Raiders fans can just plan a Vegas weekend around the home schedule.

I hope Goodell approves it bc getting a modern NFL tier stadium/dome in Vegas would open it up to so many big events like Super Bowls & College National Championships. It's the perfect place to host big events without needing a car to get around

There's no way OKC has room for the Thunder and an NFL team. Maybe if both the Cowboys (from Dallas, not OSU, who are also a factor) and OU didn't have notable teams nearby but OKC is simply not big enough yet.

MGM is going to fight tooth and nail to stop it. Have sabotaged every stadium project in Las Vegas for the past 15 years.

It could mean that UNLV joins UH as top contenders for PAC expansion IF they decide to expand and the Big 12 is solid. Throw in New Mexico and a 4th program (Tulane or Rice if they wanted to add a prestigious private school) and you have a contiguous footprint that spreads from California to Louisiana.

This gets them in the central time zone and captures the Houston, Las Vegas, and New Orleans markets.

Academically, UNLV is a step above Boise State. No way is the Pac looking at them. They have to take more time to develop, there are people reading this board who are older than UNLV (and UCF, UAB, USF, FIU, FAU, Charlotte and the new Florida State for that matter).

actually okc is the size of cincinnati. Check out the stadium the are throwing at the Raiders. 'Oklahoma city offers Raiders a field of dreams...Mapps.'

Cincinnati is the 34th largest TV market (which doesn't include nearby Dayton at 64) and has been a major pro sports market for over a century. OKC is 45th and has been one for less than a decade.

I just don't see it on OKC, not yet anyways. Let them prove they can support the Thunder and survive a few bad seasons that will inevitably come.
