Very cool, I will never forget watching sold out BB games at the consistently sold out Field House during the 1971/72 season. My freshman year on campus.

Yes, that is very cool. My sophomore year. Those were great years for Huskie basketball.

Anyone recall the details of why he never played his senior year. I remember there were some eligibility issues with the NCAA stemming from playing in a charity basketball tournament, but it was a few years before I attended NIU and I'm not sure I am correct.

I'm definitely going to this. I never saw Brad play. He was ineligible in my first year-his last year-at NIU. I hope some old friends show up too.

More on Jim Bradley:
"For many Northern Illinois loyalists, the Bradley name evokes passionate memories, the ultimate potential and dream for a Huskie program in a revenue sport. With no local NCAA Tournament bid since 1995-96 and 12 losing seasons in the last 14 winters that Tom Jorgensen era sometimes feels like a mirage or hallucination. Can you tell those days still sustain us hardcore Huskies?

To paraphrase Mick Jagger, it was a gas, gas, gas. Talk about NIU ownership and unconditional fan support. And why not? Numerous sellout games, wild SRO crowds, space shuttle launch decibel counts in venerable Chick Evans Field House."

As someone pretty new to this board, that is probably the best thread I have ever skimmed through. Thanks for posting. Most well before me, but the Bradley, DePaul, football stories are great. To any other newbies----spend a good hour reading some of the stuff. Thanks!

From what I remember hearing, he was recruited by bigger schools but his grades and test scores were so poor that no one but us were able to get him through admissions.

For those who think we old farts are exaggerating
Quote:In 1974, the Indiana Pacers’ McGinnis and former ABA co-MVP with Erving (1975) commented: “On a given night, Bradley can be better than me. He can be better than Julius Erving.”

RE: Jim Bradley Display
Another good article on Jim Bradley.

I'm looking forward to this at noon on Saturday.

http://www.huskiewire.com/articles/2016/.../index.xml

"Funded by private donors and located in the south lobby of NIU's Convocation Center, it will be unveiled as part of Winter Homecoming festivities at noon on Saturday. The ceremony is open to the public with either women's or men's basketball game tickets. Doors will open at 11:45 a.m. The display includes previously unpublished photos from the SI Bradley shoot."

Got there at 3:00 and no display to be found. Why not leave it up until the end of the game?
