Will the SEC and Big Ten team up to parse out the ACC?
Others have suggested it. It could certainly work.

Most of the valuable brands outside of the SEC and Big Ten currently reside in the ACC albeit cobbled together in a manner that minimizes their value.

It would probably take 12 schools to decide to disband. I think it could be done. Let's examine...

The SEC could take a few of the usual suspects...Florida State, Georgia Tech, Clemson, NC State, Virginia Tech, and Louisville. The SEC consolidates its footprint while adding to it slightly.

The Big Ten could take North Carolina, Duke, Virginia, Notre Dame, Syracuse, and Boston College. They expand their footprint further into the Northeast and South and add some academic might as well.

The only schools left out are Pittsburgh, Miami, and Wake Forest. But let me suggest additional moves that might still add content value.

When the Big 12 GOR expires then it will be a free for all for a handful of those schools. The SEC could grab Oklahoma, Iowa State(who may actually be more valuable to us than KU considering solid football and the fact we already access the KC market), Baylor, and West Virginia to further consolidate its footprint while adding some additional brand power. Not sure what the Big Ten would want to do if anything at that point, but if consolidating our region ahead of the move to streaming is a goal then I think this works all the way around.

West: Iowa State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas A&M, Arkansas
South: LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State
East: Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Clemson, NC State
North: Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Louisville, Virginia Tech, West Virginia

If the ACC is going to get poached, it'll most likely be by the B1G as they have the greatest need or opportunity with their TV contracts being negotiated right now or soon. Depending on how many ACC schools actually leave for the B1G, that'll determine how many more will disperse to the SEC and possibly B12. If only Virginia defects up north, I could see the B1G grabbing KU or another northeastern market team to round off. If Virginia leaves for much greater money, I could see VT defecting to the SEC as to not fall down to the number two Virginia school in the state. SEC could round off with NC State or OU or FSU or even WVU or just wait it out.

Now if the B1G grabs 3 or 4 ACC schools, then the conference just starts to fall apart as everyone scrabbles for safe landing spots.
