TXST Slug-for-Your-Seats promo
I've seen Minor League teams do similar promos...

Any season-ticket holder who can hit a home run off former Major League pitcher and current Texas State pitching coach Jeremy Fikac or Olympic Gold Medalist and current Texas State softball pitching coach Cat Osterman will receive a full refund for their 2016 season tickets.

http://txstatebobcats.com/news/2016/1/22...60754.aspx

Fikac's career highlights:
Four seasons of Major League Baseball with the San Diego Padres, Oakland Athletics and Montreal Expos
116 MLB strikeouts
A rookie ERA of 1.37
Career ERA of 4.49
Drafted by the San Diego Padres
Tied for fifth all-time in career shutouts at Texas State

Osterman's career highlights:
Olympic Gold and Silver Medalist
832 strikeouts in a 10-year career with a 59-4 record and 0.38 ERA with Team USA
8-year veteran of the National Pro Fastpitch League
All-NPF team five times and three-time NPF Pitcher of the Year
Holds NCAA record for career strikeout ratio per seven innings (14.35) and is second all-time in NCAA Division I for career strikeouts with 2,265
Holds career records in strikeouts, victories (136), ERA (0.51), shutouts (85) and no hitters (20) at Texas
Three-time Big 12 Conference Female Athlete of the Year

So...all you have to do to save what...100 bucks maybe? is to hit a ball 350 plus feet off a Major League pitcher? Also, the rules for this thing are nuts, you get only two pitches, and one swing? What if the guy doesn't throw a strike?

Sounds like fun.

Baseball season tickets are $150 and it's only 330 feet down the lines at Bobcat Ballpark. I don't think anyone is mortgaging their lunch money with the expectations to go out and hit the home run. If you do, cool. If not, at least you got to try to hit a MLB fastball.

Cat Osterman is probably the most well-known softball pitcher in history. I'm sure a lot of people would like to try to hit off of her, even if it is for just a pitch or two.

As far as only getting 2 pitches - even if these two only face 50 batters - that's 100 pitches. Do you want the batters to get 5 pitchers and make Fikac and Osterman throw 250 pitches?

He could be the first pitching coach to have Tommy John Surgery though! Think of the possibilities...

Sure if that 250th pitch was to me. Still wouldn't hit it but....

If a Season ticket holder managed to hit a home run at Tomlinson Stadium, they'd probably get a spot on the baseball team. I sent this link to our old pitching coach and got a response that he'd want a luxury box for football for sure.

If they can do it on a February day with the wind blowing in (only way it ever blows of course) that's probably naming rights territory.

I would probably say Jennie Finch is most well know, and Osterman is 2nd most well known. I wonder if they are just throwing BP pitches, or 90 mph heaters. No one will hit a HR either way.

Make contact then take off running, round all the bases before they realize what's going on...bam, home run...give me my tickets...doesn't say anything about over the fence.

I think you need to read that a little bit more carefully

"A winning hit is one that passes over the outfield fence of Bobcat Ballpark or Bobcat Softball Stadium in fair territory without bouncing on the field. Final determination of whether a hit constitutes a home run will be made by the Texas State Baseball and Softball staff."

Here's a really short video highlight. Seems a lot of our baseball players tried hitting Osterman; without success. Second link is a bit more of people trying.

Those guys know they don't need to "slug for their seats," don't they . . .

. . . I mean as players, their seats in the dugout are pretty much guaranteed . . . .

I don't think they are even allowed to accept tickets, are they? It was for charity so maybe their parents donated money and they took swings?
