Pass' mother, Kershena Thomas, said Sunday night that her son - a four-star quarterback who's widely considered U of L's most prized recruit in the 2016 class - enjoyed his visit to Tuscaloosa but remains solidly pledged to the Cardinals.
Jawon Pass, whose brother Khane is a freshman safety at U of L, will take his official visit to Louisville this coming weekend, then sign with U of L on Feb. 3, his mom said.
"He's still committed to Louisville," Thomas said. "We just went out on an official visit, but he's still committed. ... His mind is made up. He's not wavering. We always enjoy Alabama when we go over there, but his mind is made up."
"(Pass) said that he appreciates everything Alabama has done and the way that they always reached out to him, but he's convinced Louisville is where he needs to be and that's a better fit for him."
U of L coach Bobby Petrino had a good visit with Pass at the player's home in Columbus, Ga., on Wednesday, his mother said.
Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson had a good freshman year in 2015, concluding with a strong performance in the Music City Bowl victory over Texas A&M, and figures to have a firm grip on the Cards' No. 1 job heading into next season. Thomas said her son, who is U.S. Army All-American, looks forward to having Jackson as a teammate.
"I think he's going to be a great addition to help Lamar, and he said he's going to be able to watch Lamar and learn from him," Thomas said. "They can develop a good working relationship and get the job done."
Pass committed to Louisville over Alabama and Auburn in July. He's rated the nation's No. 3 dual-threat QB and No. 160 senior overall by 247Sports.com.
