MBB: In MAC losses...
opponents shoot better than us... 03-shhhh

OU shot 53% from the field, and 51% percent from three last night.

Our MAC losses:
OU made 14-27 three's to our 10-25.
NIU made 8-24 three's to our 5 of 30.
NIU made 8-23 three's to our 5 of 18.
BSU made 13-30 three's to our 9 of 26.

I like Boothe stepping out and shooting an occasional three to keep other bigs honest... It's a strong suit of his game compared to his position.

I like Sanford shooting em because well...that's why he's on the team. He only hits 34% but has a quick release. He also doesn't have to stop leading scorers on the defensive end so we can afford less D and for him to go 2/7 from deep some nights because he also has 4/5 nights.

Jon Jon should be a pure slasher and 15-20 foot scorer. Some three's do go in... he's like 37% on the year.. but someone should really fix that dart he calls a shot. If it's not perfect, it has no chance at going in! I'll live with him shooting open three's... OPEN ONES.

Stuckey.... shoot more! His shot looks great and he hits 44% from deep. He also has the ball more than anyone else, therefor has the opportunity to fire more up.

Navigato should just stay on the bench until he adjusts to the speed of the game. He's too much of a liability at this point to keep on the floor for 36% from three, and much worse in MAC play.

Lauf.... do what you do... no more three's. IMO Lauf shoud be on the floor for Navigato, and Adaway should be giving him a break.

We're shooting too many as a team at less productive levels than the league to keep up. Go inside more! Less standing around, more slashing... Follow your dang shots!

An ideal game from the offensive standpoint should be 18-22 three point attempts. With 8+ being made.
2+ from Boothe. 1+ from Jon Jon. 2+ from Stuckey. 3+ from Sanford = 8.
If Navagato is going to play, he needs 3+ to stay on the floor.

Navigato, like all Frosh, has ups and downs. I'll take last night's 10/5/3 with one TO from a freshman in 24 minutes anytime. And he hit 43% from 3 last night. Mosley is the guy that needs to become the third scorer- he does have a nice shot and he can drive from the top well. Not sure what his deal is. I'm curious what you've seen from Adway that makes you want him on the floor? I've seen a player with no range, no go-to move and one who reminds me of Delino Deer or Weatherspoon on defense. Offensively he reminds me of Lauf- a guy who will pick up some garbage points but won't be a real threat off the bench. I think he'll be very good by Jr. year but he isn't now.

The difference between Navigato and Sanford to me is that Navigato has more important defensive assignments. He has to guard other teams 3 guard or 4 forward. In this league that is usually the most athletic player on the floor. He can't handle it yet. He needs 15+ points per game IMO to keep up with the amount of points he gives up. During the next game I will watch exactly how many points his man score's against him to back up my argument.

I can't for the life of me understand why we try to "help out" on defense so much. Stay on your man! I'm sick of the kick out three's we leave open all the time because we are helping out, and we're not quick enough to recover! The last 2 minutes of the NIU game at home was where we had a chance to win and what happened.... layup after layup on helping and losing a man in the middle. I'm pretty sure it was Navigato's man every time as well.

If we aren't getting much defense from Navigato yet, why not have someone with dunking ability/ electricity/ energy /length /strength over Navigato? Adaway isn't a better shooter, but he has to have something he's good at right? He "looks" like he should be on the floor. Let him foul out, I don't really care. Navigato looks scared out there. Heck... against NIU he had two technical foul free throws and missed them both.

All of Boothe's moves inside were to the right..... never made a move left. Easier to defend a guy if you know where he is going all the time.

RE: MBB: In MAC losses...
up and down team.

adway has loads of talent but he's struggled defensively w the speed of the game and needs a year or two for his offense to come smoothly at this level, but I'm surprised he's buried on the bench. then again, i don't go to practice.

navigato is a nice player. he has a feel for defense but is usually a half step slower and a lot less strong than the guy he's matched up with. i think he's a baller though. i don't mind him growing up on the court

sanford has a lot of talent taking the ball to the basket, but he's young and cautious and sticking with his strength of shooting the 3.

i really wish stuckey would just go out and ball every game. he should be shooting a lot of 3s and mid range jumpers. he's dynamite half the time and passive the other half. weird.

jonjon is probably are best all around shooter. i don't like it when he puts his head down and forces a deliberate driving move to his right. they seldom work and he's been doing that more lately. he's better playing quick. attack and shoot or pass. not force, force, shoot

boothe is my man crush, shut up with anything negative

OK, I don't need to say anymore- pono just drove the nail by hitting it squarely on the head.
