It's really hard to say, but I think that clown a$$ site CAAZone once had a fire MB poll, and I'm pretty sure there were only 2 votes to retain him. Before you go trying to find it, don't bother, the CAAZone is down and has been down for weeks, if not more.

RE: Brady takes a step up
Getting basketball COA would a be a wise investment for recruiting purposes. As great a job as Matt has done this year I would be concerned about what the Freshman and Sophomore classes currently look like. JMU should be good again next year but there is a massive hole afterwords. I am not a recruiting guru and do not follow it at all, I can just speak to what is currently on the roster. McLean will be a nice CAA starter but I am not sure what other pieces will be.
Even more reason for Matt to bail if he can get even a slightly better/similar job.

All this said, I'm glad we have him now & hope we extend. (Also, hope we offer COA to his recruits.)

I think your numbers might be off. The majority wanted Brady fired, but there were certainly more than 2 that supported extending his contract.

I know Matt loves jmu but could certainly see him leaving if not this year then next. I would love to see jmu extend him sooner for 4 year deal so he can begin to tell recruits he ll be here. With 9 juniors the incoming class of 2017 is of utmost importance. dont drag your feet and allow him to be scooped up.

Agree....as soon as The football staff gets in place, dealing with Brady should be #1 priority. I agree a 4 year extension makes sense.

We really do need to give Coach Brooks and Coach Brady COA stipends to use in recruiting. As long as the football team remains FCS and in the CAA, basketball is our path to national media attention. There's no reason we should handicap those coaches in recruiting.

I'm a football alum, and I agree with this point.

RE: Brady takes a step up
A foundation of Snowden, McLean, Kangni, Shepherd and Hollywood is not necessarily bad going into 2017-18, if it's teamed up with several good young players that could either be freshmen or JUCO transfers (and I would think he'd have both then) or even a graduate transfer. The rest of this season and next season are where they have to make hay, though, and Brady, somewhat surprisingly, has talked about playing into late March this year. If Brady were to leave because he's successful, that's a good thing for everyone and to me it makes more sense for him to do it after next season. The whole conversation may change, though, if JMU doesn't take care of business this week.

Jon Alger is opposed to COA, he has clearly put that flag in the sand at JMU.

Without COA put a fork in both Matt and Kenny. That really sad thing is that by all indications Alger truly believes that we don't need COA to remain competitive. Don't be surprised if COA schools come after Precious Hall for her fifth year when she will have already graduated.

All that said, a win Thursday would go a long way. This is the biggest meaningful home game in a long time.
I'm still a non-believer. My expectation for JMU is a program that wins CAA outright and/or the CAA tourney at least every other year consistently. This year isn't even over and this love-fest is crowning him king of the mid-majors.

This is my question as well. Assuming we sign some promising freshmen in either Football, MBB or WBB, will we see a scenario where they specifically transfer for their last 2 years for COA. I know its not a ton of money, but $3K a year to a college student can make a difference.
Also, will the coaches begin to view lateral moves that pay COA as attractive because they won't have a possible recruiting disadvantage due to not offering COA.

Brady was due. He's had a lot of rotten luck and deserves a season where what he envisioned, is actually happening.

I bet Jon Alger couldn't catch a baseball 5 consecutive times in a row and he is going to tell use about being competitive. He is clueless and anyone that thinks he is doing a good job probably invested heavily in laser-discs.

RE: Brady takes a step up
He should take a note out of his own book and do a real listening tour. Listen to what we are saying. Oh that's right, he doesn't like what we are saying, therefore it must not be true.
He only listens to what he wants and makes him happy. He selects the pieces he likes, ignores the others and claims to know what we want from our University. Let's not forget this gem... Alger's first takeaway from what the JMU community wants... "..an engaged University". That's mind blowing stuff right there. That's the guy we have running this place.
He's a terrible leader for this university. If he doesn't turn things around he'll be known as the worst president in JMU's history.
