Let me FIRST say that I cannot vouch as to whether this is accurate, but from one of the "realignment twitter guys"...

Always interesting and funny to hear the latest rumors.

But this guy is about as accurate with his information as theDude.

One of the infamous WVU bloggers

BiG contacting ACC schools?
There were rumors that the B1G was talking with NC & Virginia before they got Maryland, wouldn't be surprised. Oklahoma has already said that they have been talking with other conferences.

I'm sure they are. Schools talk to other schools all the time. That doesn't mean there is anything serious about it from either side.

Virginia - nah bro, I'm good

Delaney - OK - let's have a beer and leak it to the Dude

I do wonder why espn doesn't close out a network and turn it into an ACC N rather than start from nothing...why not just shut down espn classic or U. Maybe get the ACC to jump to 18 to get more markets for the ACC N.

Because in terms of subscriber fees, it is easier to start from scratch than to try to convert an existing low yield network into a new one just because it has rebranded (see Speed conversion to FS1). Now if you are just trying for reach, then it is a different story

These are from MHver3. Your left big toe would have more information and credibility on realignment issues than that guy.

Why would the FSU prez tell the WVU prez that the B1G was talking to ACC teams that aren't FSU?

RE: BiG contacting ACC schools?
lol....this guy. Do you guys know the backstory to this?

Several years ago information got out from WV sources via their athletic department and some people had access (Mhver3 is one of them) and they were posting on the West Virginia forums. They got a lot of traffic from it. Once the info (aka realignment died out for a while), they were told just to make stuff up to keep traffic coming. So they did that. Eventually they kicked them off the WV forums and now they spout their stupidity (obsession) on Twitter.

The Dude of MN, Mhver3 and some others make stuff up all of the time.

Real info is rarely ever leaked. The B1G info about OK and KU is probably the only real info out there besides the Big 12 expansion or not expanding stuff.

Besides, as another person said, schools talk all of the time. Doesn't mean there is anything there.

Exactly. theDude and MHver3 should change their handles and start fresh building a new reputation that they can tarnish as bad as their previous ones. 03-wink

Days before the ACC GOR was announced, these guys were saying that UVA had its BiG "application paperwork" already into the BiG. Anybody who puts any credence whatsoever into what they say has earned all the mocking they can receive here.

The ACC GOR being signed, was what actually put the nail in their coffin, and forced the Dude to finally admit publicly the **** he had been making up.

RE: BiG contacting ACC schools?
Surprise that ESPN just doesn't shut down the ESPN Classic network and make it the ACC Network. Best thing for ECU besides going to the SEC is for the Big Ten and SEC to eat up the ACC and Big 12. That would probably leave some good schools for us to be with.
Boston College
Connecticut
Temple
Pitt
West Virginia
Cincinnati
Louisville
Memphis
Old Dominion (VT and UVA would probably get taken)
East Carolina (NC State might still be around same for Wake)
Clemson
Georgia Tech (Possibly)
Florida State
UCF
South Florida
Miami

That would be a pretty good East Coast conference

RE: BiG contacting ACC schools?
ESPN did mentioned before Maryland was taken that the Big 10 was targeting the best AAU schools out of the ACC, and one none AAU school from there.

North Carolina, Virginia, Clemson, Georgia Tech and Florida State all could make a bridge. The reason Florida State was mentioned was so that they can get a pipeline in the fertile recruiting grounds of Florida to keep up with the SEC.

Anyone else think the term "fertile recruiting grounds" should be retired? LOL
