RE: Big 12's best proactive move to cut off the PAC?

Seems far-fetched.
The author concedes that this could only happen after the current GoR expires. So it's a big-picture, brainstorm riff. Like when people say the other conferences might gang up & cannibalize the B12 and/or ACC. Or the Texoma 4 joining the PAC. I wouldn't put any money on those happening, either.
Leave out all that stuff about CSU, SDSU & BYU. What I'm wondering is...why is this such a bad deal for Arizona? Deloss Dodds has openly stated his preference to travel east. He has said it's easier on athletes, making wins more probable, and just better for TV. Why shouldn't that appeal to the AZ schools?
When Texas talks about expanding eastward, it's because for UT, there are a lot more eyeballs in the east than there are in the current Big 12 footprint. But unless Arizona joins with schools in the eastern timezone, they would be moving into a conference with even fewer eyeballs in their footprint than the PAC. The SEC West would be a better choice for Arizona, but not for the SEC. They are not going anywhere. Not now, and not when GoR's expire.
The B12 makes more TV money than the PAC. This despite having fewer eyeballs, less inventory to sell to TV partners & no CCG. Fan intensity matters.
Again, I never said it's likely. Travel to Morgantown makes it a non-starter. And the B12 isn't going to dump WVU with the vague hope that MAYBE Arizona bites.

FWIW, inventory doesn't matter. Inventory on a per school matters. Also don't think that eyeballs matters (unless you mean ratings compared to the next best option in that time slot).
That said, you're basic point that fan intensity is what drives the buss is correct.

My sentiments as well. It would normally go without saying that if the Big12 could "add Colorado", then they could have kept Colorado when it got the offer to leave for the PAC.
