2 Broncos taken in inaugural Major League Football draft.
TE Dallas Walker was taken in the 29th round, 7th pick.
LB Johnnie Simon was taken in the 65th round, 7th pick.

Both were drafted to "Team Kirksey" led by HC Larry Kirksey on what will be the "Midwest" team likely located in the Cleveland/Akron area.

Overall, 21 MAC players were drafted. All but 4 will be on Team Kirksey. CMU QB Dan LeFevour led the group by being drafted in the 1st-round, 7th overall pick in what they call the "franchise player" round (their name for the first round).

There will initially be 8 teams and 43 games (10 regular season per team, and then 3 playoff games). Cities and team names have yet to be officially announced and they hope to be ready for their first season this spring. Season will run in the spring/summer as to not go head-to-head with the NFL.

The league seeks to establish itself in underrepresented markets and fill the spring/summer football void.

League rules will essentially be the same as the NFL except for a few key changes:
1. Play clock is 30 seconds instead of 40.
2. 50-yard field goals will be worth 4 points.
3. The ground CAN cause a fumble.
4. Overtime rules are different.

Interesting. Sounds like a cross between the XFL and CFL.

Another one to add to the ever growing pile of failed NFL "alternatives".

Yeah, we'll see if this thing lasts. The other 4(?) leagues that tried this all failed within 5 years. But I'd love to see something like this actually work out.

Some promising things they have stated are that they will be in cities and markets that do not currently have an NFL team, and they won't be competing with the NFL in any way. That shows that they are not trying to be the NFL 2.0. They have also stressed community involvement. It reminds me of minor league baseball or semi-pro hockey. Something fun that can coexist with the "higher" level league. With football being the most popular spectator sport in this country, I don't see any reason why this can't succeed if it's managed properly.
