How did this rumor even originate. Theres people on the CUSA main board that seem certain it happened

from coaches trying to stall UAB's recruiting efforts

Don't forget we thought it Zac to UAB was in the works so there may be an element of payback here from the fans

I know how the story is being spun by USM folks and it's simply not true. They have no clue.

Seems like they are trying to influence our recruiting efforts since their efforts are in flux.

The idea of him leaving for USM doesn't even make sense. Clark had to put up with a lot of BS and chose to stick around when he didn't have to and now UAB has more positive momentum than its ever had. He's revered by the UAB fan base, and highly respected in the business for what he's accomplishing here, I'm sure. If everything pans out the way I believe it will he may be getting offers a lot bigger than USM in a few years.

Not a big surprise. I never put any stock in reports they were pursuing Clark. Why would he go there? After all that he's been through here and with other offers that he had turned down before? UAB is now going to be investing tens of millions of dollars into the football program. We will have a new stadium in a couple years. We are about to sign the top recruiting class in CUSA.

He's never taken a coaching job out of state so why would folks think he would jump for an offer to USM? He might someday leave UAB, sure, but never saw any good rationale behind the USM talk.

It is entirely possible that his agent talked to them. That's what they do. Clark has a shiny new contract, no way that interest from elsewhere will get it bumped up. Hell, Watts and Ingram would be tickled to death if he did leave.

No way do I believe that he's leaving at this point.
