OT- Best Picture
I went to see Revenant yesterday. It has received numerous Oscar nominations, including Best Motion Picture. Are you kidding me? Revenant is not even close to being the best motion picture of the year, in fact, it is almost a stretch to even call it a good movie. The scenery from the Canadian Rockies is spectacular, but there is next to no dialogue other than a lot of grunting.
Trumbo, Spotlight, Concussion, Creed, and numerous others are far superior movies than Revenant this year. But why should I be surprised after the Academy awarded Birdman best picture last year. What is it with those guys?

RE: OT- Best Picture
I've seen Trumbo and Spotlight. Trumbo was great. Spotlight was good. I haven't seen The Revenant so I can't comment on it, but isn't Mad Max one of the pictures nominated? Really. That's ridiculous. I also didn't see Birdman so I can't comment on that either. Bridge of Spies was terrific. One of the best of the best IMO. I don't know who the voters are, but obviously some of them are smoking something that's not legal in all 50 states.

Mad max was truly great. You need to watch it. It's like 98% on rotten tomatoes.

I too was very surprised by the Mad Max nomination, and because of it might go see the movie that I otherwise would not have. And I agree that Bridge of Spies was another one that beats the pants off Revenant!

Oh my Denise and I watched birdman this weekend thought it would be good given best pic etc------fell asleep and then woke up to see it was just as bad after the nap. The only time it was good was when I was asleep.

Agreed. One weird boring movie. Revenant is not much better.
