They were teleconferencing the ACC about Notre Dame. ND wants to join the ACC as a full member, but the conference is on the fence and will only take the Irish if they can get references. Naturally, ND called Texas' AD and UConn/Michigan's AD to give them references, because who would be better than a realignment guru/incoming AD of ND's biggest rival, and the head man of the biggest name on the game?

Unfortunately for ND, their references were less than stellar, so ND will have to wait.
