Would you rather?
Have a TV set up like we currently have, or have "every" game available free of charge online with little to no tv. Which we really don't have much tv anyway, but I think you get what I'm asking.

RE: Would you rather?
I think the people that demand free links are part of the problem. I don't think there is an amount of money that I wouldn't spend to follow my alma mater. I happily gave up whatever-it-was for all-access back in the day -- I never really had the technology issues that everyone else seemed to complain about, by the way. I paid for directv and cable for years because we were mostly on fox and cbssn, but always had a few games on CSS . . . until CSS went tits up.
petulantly demanding to view for free something that wasn't free to produce is just wrong-headed, and probably a little destructive. we are mostly a collection of other-than-rich schools; we shouldn't b*tch because we have to pay for stuff.

I'd be fine with a paid online streaming option. What is unacceptable is neither being able to pay to stream online, nor watch on TV because the broadcaster doesn't show the game in your area.

I understand your point. But there are some exceptions. ASN, for example, televises some games at other schools that your region may not carry. It wouldn't kill them to put a link up to watch the game streamed that is already being produced and could contain the same advertising as the TV production. They did this 2 years ago and did away with it last year. I think they were trying to put pressure on affiliates to air them by not having another option, but in the end it's the fan that suffers. I already pay for the sports packs that pickup ASN productions most of the time, which in turn pay ASN. I should have the option to watch online when it isn't picked up. And if they require a nominal fee, so be it, but give the consumer the choice.

RE: Would you rather?
Why can't we have both?
I believe we need to keep a television presence. Despite what some believe, T.V. will never go away. It will evolve over time as technology continues to change, but it will not end.
C-USA needs to take full control over broadcasting their conference games. C-USA needs to develop its own stand alone HD satellite/cable channel, as a pay per view network, and tie it to its own conference website.
Each program would be responsible for producing their home game broadcasts, with set standards and C-USA broadcasters. All games would appear on T.V. and also be streamed live via an online platform. Every programs coaches shows and behind the scenes videos could also air on the C-USA Network. A C-USA focused "Sportscenter" style daily newscast could be developed, as well as a weekly "Game Day" style tailgate show.
It could work if the cost of the subscription could be added into the cost of season tickets, in addition to alums living outside of their school's region that sign up. I'd gladly pay an extra $120 to $175 a year on my season tickets, to have access to all of my school's sporting events. Those not holding season tickets and living outside of their school's region, could just pay their satellite/cable provider a monthly subscription fee ($15-$20).
C-USA would be able to control its costs and develop a marketing department that could generate more revenue through advertising on this network. Our basketball, baseball, volleyball, softball, golf, tennis, soccer, and all other sports programs would benefit greatly from this move.
Just my opinion.

It depends. As a fan, I would want all the games online for free. However, I know it's not good for the league.

I agree with Joe. Get what we can on TV and it would be nice to have as much as possible of the rest on streaming. The YouTube live streaming thing is very nice for example. Would be nice if they could utilize students as much as possible and put together some kind of inexpensive steam?

so do I....
as 'X' pointed out, I am one of 'those' guilty as charged in the past......I hope to assume that my drive in that context would be the same as any other fan....
give me "both" as you/he describe.....I pay and don't have to search for bs anymore....
hell, it's gotten so annoying to me, I just told comcrap to 'suck it', cut my bill in half for 12 mos, and still almost choose internutz radio exclusively when 'viewing'....my boob tube is almost always on mute at this point....

This is the issue I have with ASN. I pay for the UTEP online stream. I live in Houston, which doesn't have a Sinclair affiliate. So, unless one of the CSNs I have picks it up, there's no TV for me. I swear I look at where the game is being shown, and it's El Paso, Des Moines, and Boise only or something, and it still gets blacked out online. Really pisses me off.

this is why I am falling in love with radio again (granted, via the internutz)
the hockey game I wanted to watch last night was 'monster truck fkn' on NBCSP with the listing stating otherwise.....
I wouldn't hesitate to pay for a package and get ALL cusa broadcasts....

It is the same way here in Dallas. Dallas and Houston are two of the nation's top 10 tv markets. Even though the channel guide may show that your game is on ASN in your area, IT ISN'T! Just offering it online with a subscription fee is a "no brainer" solution for most fans. The fact that this hasn't been resolved yet is ridiculous.

is why the previous silence from bb or the girl in the current chair is the most in annoyance....
there is no way I am comfortable with stupidity and silence at that level.....

If ASN has no way to stream the games it televises, then those game broadcasts should be available for streaming through the existing C-USA Digital Network package. ASN doesn't have to spend money to create a streaming site, and C-USA already has the structure available. And if using the ASN broadcast through C-USA DN isn't feasible, then the regular video streaming used for non-televised games should be allowed.
It's definitely a no-brainer, and unfortunately it is a direct reflection of what isn't being done at the conference office.

RE: Would you rather?
When I started the thread I should have said all games online included with your tv package. Kind of like espn3.
Personally if I knew the Herd was going to be available for me to watch online every game I would prefer that to 8 TV games per year.
Btw I'm mostly referring to basketball. Football coverage is pretty good IMO.

I agree. Charlotte had 11 games available to me in Greensboro this football season. I could probably view another three CUSA games every weekend.
