He won my confidence and admiration the day I heard him speak at the introductory press conference. The fact that he chose to come here speaks volumes - Fuente's success in the last two seasons is a very tough act to follow (might have even been a factor in his leaving). Actions speak louder than words. While Norvell's words were convincing, taking this job proves that he has a great deal of courage, confidence in himself and/or belief in the potential of Tiger football. As the 3rd-highest-paid assistant in college football, he had plenty of opportunities elsewhere, for sure.

he took the job because it has a decent returning roster and an easy upcoming schedule. win 8 games the next two years and he'll go get paid!!

Stop it. You've even turned Juggoman into a practicing futilitarian.

"futilitarian"????

you obviously aint a tigahhigh grad

Is that a requirement for posting here? I do have season tickets. I'm one of those incremental fans that we need to keep cultivating.

Don't sweat "B". Enjoyed the Colorado Bronco's win.

So sad to see a 1 point Tiger loss. Watched 'em both until the Tiger's end. Guess the board is raging.

I'm a proud MSU grad.

Now, it's on to Super Bowl 50 . 04-rock Going to be some rockin' in Santa Clara, CA. 07-coffee3

He turned down Malzahn's offer to run the Auburn offense so working in the SEC is not his hot button. If we take decent care of him financially for his successes and Bowen doesn't piss him off or try to micromanage him we just might have a keeper for a while.

If not for Jimmy Sexton's input, UCF almost had him and Larry Porter together as a recruiting tandem and in Florida they would have absolutely torn it up. Norvell and Porter are still close friends.

The same things were said about the guy that bolted to Virginia-----heck he himself stated that he would be the Memphis Coach for as long as we wanted him.

Too many fickle coaches around a collegiate game. Hope Norvell doesn't develop into one.

Oh, good grief. If he wanted that, we would have taken the Auburn OC job. Gonna have to try harder than that.

It is the reality of success for all but a handful of schools. However, membership in the Big 12 would have narrowed the schools where Norvell would have considered to move. Failure to gain P-5 membership is definitely a major blow to the program. For example, a G-5 school like us cannot absorb as readily the financial hit due a bad hire.

The AAC TV contract is up for renewal after the 2019 FB season. Would highly imagine that the conference revenue will go up significantly. Even at 50% of a P5 contract, it would change the future of all schools in the AAC.

Aresco knows this. Keep focused on winning and getting a W every time we play a P5. Securing the NY6 game in 2 of the next 3 seasons would be a strong signal.

I just want a great season for this group of players. They've earned it. The coaches will always looking to move up and get paid. It's their chosen profession. (Maybe Dickey is the lone exception). Same for admins. (i.e. Wren Baker, Ryan Alpert and others)

This year will begin to tell the tale if Norvell was riding coattails or building his own brand.

That's why I root for the name on the front of the jersey and don't try to buddy up with the coaches like a lot of jocksniffing fans tend to do. Coaches and players come and go, but the Tigers will always be the Tigers.

I'm still amazed that we have some fans who get so emotionally invested in a person that they end up doing things like sitting in the stands in Lexington or Blacksburg.

Any Tigers fan who went to a game in Blacksburg should be shot to the moon.

We don't need them.
