Parity, Charlotte waxes Marshall thursday night, Marshall turns around and beats ODU on Saturday. Besides UAB, the middle of the pack is up for grabs

If I "herd" right, we won 1 road game last year, this one makes us 3 this year, vs a way better schedule than last year.

When we were 0-6, if you would have said we would be 10-10 right now I would say your nuts. Great game.

I'm excited for the next two games in Huntington. Both MTSU (a team who has had our number in bball) and the front runner in UAB should tell us where we stand in conference.

Still a lot of games left to be played. But it feels good to be back at .500 and 6-1 in conference!

I wouldn't say waxed us. It was competitive the whole game. They definitely went on a tear, but we didn't get blown out or anything.

UAB does have 1 game lead on Marshall and a 2 game lead on everyone else.

We still have to play @Marshall, @la tech, @MTSU, and Marshall at home. The second half of the conference schedule is much harder than the first. I don't think we have this thing locked up yet at all.

Our SOS was weak and our win total is padded. We lost the 3 marquee match ups on our schedule OOC.

I appreciate the sentiment, but I'm getting tired of hearing it. UAB, MTSU and now Marshall. These are games that we 'played tough' in, but just can't seem to win. If we want to call ourselves one of the best in the conference we need to win these.

I watched the game here in Dallas on Ch. 47 and this is the kind of games this conference needs in national TV (well if you call ASN national). Competitive, down to the wire in a packed arena. Congrats Marshall on the win and good job ODU on the good environment you guys have.

I'm no prediction theorist by any means, but I still feel UAB is the class of the conference. I'm excited for Saturday's game. I hope we can make a game of it.

So getting beat by 8 103-95 is considered getting waxed....OOOOOK.

MT needs to get a big win up in Huntington. Good news is our defense is really good. So hopefully we will stop the scoring.

Gonna be tough in Huntington. I think teams that have the most success against us stop worrying about stopping us from scoring and just beat us with our own tempo. Rice did this and nearly got us and Charlotte did this. And ODU was kind of in between. They kept it fast for the first half and limited us for a while, but if you don't commit one way or the other we may go on a spree, which we did running off ten points in a row late in the game. That ultimately got us through the couple of calls that didn't go our way after that. If ODU had committed to just running with us and let our own mistakes beat us they would have won. ODU wasn't turning the ball over at all till way late in the game. So they had an edge for a long time.

As soon as Kelly squared up for that final shot, I knew it was in. The guy is a player. But he's not alone.

D'Antonio has your entire team playing aggressive, no-fear basketball. This conference clearly is going to win the "most improved" honor next season.

Congratulations, Herd.

Nice win today Marshall. Was at the game. Nice crowd but not as full as it would have been if the weather was better. I know my wife stayed home for that reason.

You guys have a solid team with a crisply run offense and a sound enough defense to balance things out. Kelly is very talented. I'm penciling him in for now to win Conference Newcomer Of The Year. Wish we had him on our team to compliment Freeman.

Good luck till we meet again on the hard court.

I agree with Dawgxas that any of those teams could win a couple of games in the conference tournament. At this point I would have to say that any team that is to upset UAB in the tournament is likely going to have to be seeded in the Top 4 to do so. I don't see a team beating them if they have already played an additional game. Not sure about FIU or UTEP since I have seen little of they at this point but I don't think this is the year for ODU to win it all even if they make the Top 4. They were only playing 8 players when Biberaj suffered the concussion against MTSU. Now they are playing 7 and a D3 transfer. Need more depth to win 3 straight in Birmingham and I believe that 4 would be out of the question. Wouldn't be enough left in the tank for Freeman.

UAB has to be the big favorite to win it all this year, especially with it being in Birmingham.

I usually don't talk smack, but consider it payback for the abuse we took during football season. 04-cheers

Marshall lead or tied Charlotte for the first 3:36 of the game. They never were really a factor afterwards. Charlotte lead by 10 or more points for 13 minutes and 47 seconds of game time. Charlotte held a lead of 19 with 6:59 remaining and 13 with 1:04 remaining. Marshall had some good runs here and there to chop the lead down to 6 or 8, but Charlotte was in control of this game for the majority. This game was not competitive the whole game at all.

Well, the football game was competitive until the opening kickoff, so there's that.

We played a very sluggish first half, so yeah, the outcome was never much in doubt.

Marshall takes 2 from ODU. The Ladies win 80-62. Marshall had 29 from the FT line.
