Exactly.

But Swofford is happy (his goal was his son's job), so don't expect anything.

Texas and Rice would get us into Texas and reinforce our academic mission, and we would have nice geographic clusters:

BC, Syracuse, Pitt, Notre Dame, Louisville
UVa, VaTech, UNC, Duke
Wake, NC State, Clemson, GaTech
FSU, Miami, Texas, Rice

UConn simply isn't worth it. Eventually y'all are going to catch on to the fact that basketball is at this point a minor concern and no matter how big their national basketball appeal might be it will never overcome the absolute black hole that their football is and always will be and they will always be a net drain on the conference because of that.

Agreed. No to UConn for always.

UConn fans think that their Big Ten invitation will arrive any day now.

Their belief is that Delany will finish his "conquest" of New York City by adding UConn to the Big Ten Network.

Swofford has been smart to stay away from the NYC fool's gold.

No to UConn unless Football somehow become a national house hold name like it's Basketball programs are. But I would accept a Texas - Oklahoma combination or Texas-Houston, Texas - TCU, Texas - WVU, Cincinnati-Houston, Cincinnati-WVU. Or ND and any of the others listed.

Oh Yeah, Texas would sign up for that in a minute! They would love telling the high school recruits in Texas to come to Austin so they could play Rice every year and the ACC!

Talk about tobacco road centric.

Rice is my personal choice, but they could be replaced with any of SMU, TCU, or Baylor.

3. Why? based on what? I don't see what the SEC or B1G would find appealing about Oklahoma....no big markets, not AAU (B1G)

I don't think Texas would have any problem playing Rice every year...it would be smart to double down in Texas

where does the LHN go in this scenario?

From what I understand, Boston College doesn't want UConn in conference....

Also, there's just so much football talent to be spread around in the Northeast....it's not good football territory. You start running in to a pro sports shadow too often

Either the B1G or Big XII need to grab UConn

RE: Could the ACC get aggressive?
Texas and Notre Dame remain the top choices

Assuming nothing changes on that front, I think Houston would be a great choice. That might be dependent on a network or not though....

that said, I think the ACC is about to get much better in football in the coming years....FSU, Clemson, Louisville, North Carolina, Miami, and possibly Virginia hovering around the top 25 would do wonders for the conference.

Already ACC football is light years better than the 2000s. The perception the ACC is bad is a hangover from the 2000s....

Since then, the ACC has won a National Championship, had two different teams play for it, and has been growing a strong record against SEC competition.
