RE: MBB: Toledo at Northern Illinois game thread
Silver linings:
1) we went 1-1 on this road trip
2) we beat BG...again.
3) losing the series to northern is unlikely to mean anything. They are the best in the West and one of the best in the MAC. Our competition is for the 3, 4 & 5 spots in the West.

Didn't see it but I see Boothe had seven, highly uncharacteristic. I have to think defense had something to do with it. Very few assists as well. From watching last game they did a great job of jumping the passing lanes and sending a guard behind Boothe to double and go for the steal. Did it again tonight so that's partly on coaching and partly poor recognition. I'm not saying we played well- if we match their TOs we win, but this is definitely the best team in the W right now, and maybe in the MAC. There's Kent and NIU, then everyone else but Miami and WMU.

The freshmen are freshmen. They're gonna struggle. Mosley is Mosley; he's either surprisingly good in a game or disappears, other than mistakes. But when Jon Jon and Boothe BOTH struggle in the game, we're in trouble. Even so we were within 5 in the last minute or so.

Rockets need to play smarter. At times the fundamentals stink. Down 5 and not being able to inbound the BB was ridiculous.

Can't argue about NIU being the best in the west at this point. This is the first time since the Stone Age (well at least in the last decade or so) that NIU has had a team with a realistic potential to win the MAC Tourney so it will be very interesting to see if they can actually pull it off.
UT's MBB had the potential to win the MAC Tourney 2 of the past 3 years (as well as several more times over the past 35 barren years) and the UT's WBB had the potential to win the MAC arguably in 3 of the past 6 years and we all know how those multiple opportunities turned out---(out of a sense of decency, I won't even mention football)----so if NIU gets one opportunity and cashes with a trip to the NCAA I am either going to be really, really p!ssed at NIU----or very much in awe of NIU---- or probably both.
