Future OOC schedules now
Here's a positive thread. With the exception of Prairie View this year I have absolutely zero complaints about any of these.
2016
09/10 - at Army
09/17 - Baylor
10/22 - Prairie View A&M
11/26 - at Stanford
2017
09/02 - Stanford
09/16 - at Houston
09/23 - Army
09/30 - at Pittsburgh
2018
09/01 - Houston
09/08 - at Hawaii
09/15 - at Wake Forest
11/17 - at LSU
2019
09/07 - Wake Forest
09/14 - Texas (NRG Stadium)
09/21 - at Army
TBA - Baylor
2020
09/12 - Army
2021
09/04 - at Oklahoma State
TBD - at Texas
2022
09/03 - at USC
2023
09/09 - at Boise State
TBD - at Texas
2024
09/07 - Boise State
09/14 - at Northwestern
2025
09/20 - Northwestern

RE: Future OOC schedules now
It's a good schedule. It's tough, but exciting. 2017 looks like hell, as does 2018. I hope we can compete with UH, Stanford, A&M, and LSU when the time comes. It'll be good exposure, I hope.

Wow, those are some really great schedules through 2019. Pretty much the dream OOC schedule each year. Military academy, winnable game and or peer institution, body bag/upset game.
2017 and 2018 are ideal as we could easily be 3-1 in OOC if we get the right pieces in place (and UH slips a bit once Herman leaves).

Only games I do not love are the Baylor games. If the games draw 35,000 butts-in-seat, then it will make the likely lopsided result worth it (I guess). But I would prefer a lesser P5 (like the Wake and Pitt games) that Rice can actually win. Really like the games against Army, Stanford, NW, USC, LSU, and UH.

Baylor 2016 will probably be a lop-sided loss. But I have not given up on the 2019 result yet.

A good schedule. Good for the money. Good for raising the level of competition.

Agree - - we want to maximize exposure and income while also giving ourselves a chance to be competitive. A healthy Baylor is arguably the #1 team in the nation. Getting pummeled and embarrassed is not good for us.

Then we need to find a way to not get pummeled and embarrassed.
We got beat by Baylor far far worse than their other opponents, including terrible SMU and FCS Lamar.

Not getting pummeled and embarrassed is good for us.
Getting pummeled and embarrassed is probably no worse that a half dozen other teams will do, if they are truly #1.
Beating them would be a signature win like no other at this point.
Either way, it's a bigger paycheck.
I'm personally opposed to playing Baylor, because I don't think it's a big enough paycheck for the risk.
But I can understand a different point of view on the issue.

Only 3528 days until we host Northwestern! Current 3rd graders will be playing in that game.

The 6 game home and home series with Baylor was signed BEFORE they become a top ten team. At the time, it looked like a great series, similar to Kansas/Purdue. Fast forward several years, Baylor improved greatly and Rice has not.

Damn. It was right before we kicked that amazing spark-the-comeback field goal, when down by 58.
But seriously, wow. Worst possible picture ever.

Cus the four point swing would have really made sure the team came away with a moral victory!
I think being down by 58 was the issue, not going for a field goal vs touchdown.

Both. Obviously being down 58 was a bigger issue.
But kicking a FG is a one play summary of how we play. With a loser mentality in the staff. Because the FG sure isn't going to win you the game, so why bother kicking it?
