Arlington pregame
They are 14-3 with wins over Ohio State and Memphis and an overtime loss at Texas. This team can play. They likely will start 6-8, 6-7, 6-3 across the front line and have another 6-8 kid on the bench. This is not a team with a lot of height.

Even though this team plays at a fairly quick tempo, their forte is defense. Opponents shoot 38.7% against them overall and 31.3% from the arc. They are plus-10 on the boards and have a 1.28 team A/TO ratio. So, like us, they do several things very well.

They have three players in double figures, led by Kevin Hervey at 18.1 ppg and 9.8 rpg. He is their hoss. They have three players who are legitimate 3-point threats. If they have a weak spot it is that they do not shoot particularly well for a fairly high-scoring team - 42% overall and 32.9% from the arc. Hervey has attempted more threes than anyone else on the team, but shoots only 32.3%. And fully 42.7% of their attempts are from the arc, which is a lot for a team that does not shoot it any better than they do.

Sagarin picks Arlington by 4 points.

RE: Arlington pregame
Probably a reasonable pick. However, if you read Pappy's blog about one reason the South lost the Civil War was the death of Stonewall Jackson. Well our Stonewall (Coach Beard) is alive and well, and he'll have our troops ready to go. Win or lose, it will be an epic battle Saturday at Arlington.

Good thing that we're playing in Arlington, and not Gettysburg!

Do you mean in Little Rock, or Arlington? I hope they don't have snow down there. I haven't heard how much we got, but I'd guestimate somewhere around a foot.

If we don't fix our shooting (we did much better last night) and get back on track with our free throws (we were Wayne Burton reincarnated last night), we will get slaughtered by these guys. They are VERY good.

As they say in politics, that's within the margin of error, or something like that. One point is practically nothing. Next to zero.

RE: Arlington pregame
Every game is different, so it's difficult to predict. Especially road games. It's extremely tough for any team to win on the road, and we've done a great job of it this year. Sometimes by the skin of our teeth, but we've won a lot of them. Let's hope it continues.
