C-USA Men's Basketball last NCAA appearances

Gene Bartow's run with UAB in the 80's still amazes me. We went to 7 straight NCAA tournaments from 81-87 including a sweet 16 in the program's third year and elite 8 in the program's fourth year.

What's the deepest each team has made it in the tournament? UTEP obviously wins here with a national championship.

WKU came 3rd place in 1971, back when they had 3rd place games still.

In '76 Charlotte went to the NIT Final at a time when the NCAA Tournament was only 32 teams, and then in '77 we went to the NCAA Final Four. Since then we have gotten to the second round four times, but our seed has never positioned us well to get beyond that.

Going deep would be wonderful, but C-USA just needs to get on the board with multiple teams. We are going to try and do our part.

1989 MTSU
1989 LaTech

4 different teams winning in the last 6 seasons is encouraging.

No doubt. Believe me Tech fans feel the pain. Tech was really good in Men's basketball in the 70's and 80's and a couple of year in the 90's. We made a program killer hire in Jerry Loyd in the early 90's and haven't recovered until the Mike White hire imo. We had a few good years under Keith Richard the current ULM Head Coach and made I believe two NIT's under him but he could never take us to that next level. What is encouraging is that the current leadership at Tech takes Men's Basketball seriously and will not neglect it for the sake of other sports ie. women's basketball or football. I believe the new Coach we have Konkol is a good one and will continue to improve the program and take us back to the tournament. Now unfortunately Tech is on a two game losing streak right now but we are missing two of our starters from the start of the year and are a really young team. I think Coach Konkol and the Dawgs will finish strong and in the top four at the end of the season and will hopefully make a strong run in the CUSA tournament. We have some really good players lined up for next year already also.

And didn't UAB win their first round game?

Nope. Got smoked by Clemson in the play-in and Aaron Johnson broke his leg.

Which was completely immaterial to whether or not we'd earned a bid.

Speaking of Southern Miss' last tournament loss, #8 seed Kansas State suspended Jamar Samuels before their next tourney game against Syracuse. He was suspended because he took $200 from a former AAU coach and family friend because he needed food money during their trip to the tourney.

Based on this article I think this suspension may have been a catalyst for the current COA ruling.

It's funny how you call out the "look at me" posters when you are the greatest of the offenders. Now that's some irony. But we are oh so impressed. How's your boy Ray Ray?

I haven't called out anyone but its easy to see you hold a grudge a very long time....and its very clear, probably to everyone at this point...

anything about Western and it eats you up...ANYTHING. Do I need to post the % again on your comments directly to anything Western? Be careful what you ask for because the last time you said.."I DONT DO THAT" I showed you actually do.

I don't need anyone to ask..I post what I want when I want. I especially never asked your permission on it. So whats MUTS ncaa record?

Your post is irrelevant. You're a hypocrite. You're a dick. I think that's what's very clear to everyone at this point. Thanks for playing.

And again another person that can't get over the fact in a nutshell I beat them up for a few days on here a long time ago...

let go of the anger...it's just a messageboard

Sweet 16 for Tech in '85. A game that lives in infamy for Tech fans. Waymon Tisdale hit a shot that rolled and bounced around the rim for what seemed like 10 seconds before it rolled in. OU beat us by two in OT. I wish I could see that again to see actually how long it took that shot to go down.

It was OU that beat us back in '85 and I think we finished the year ranked no. 6 or something?
