I know im in the minority, but ...... IMO if we had kept Jenkins and not brought in "the love coach", we would be the Louisville of college football right now.

I thought Jenkins was the "Love Coach"...
or was he just the "women have neat jiggly things that you can play with before you sneak out the back door in the morning coach"?

I wish I could support you on that one, but to me he started our slide, with his refusal to recruit solid defensive players. I think the "love coach" bombed because he refused to use the offensive personnel that we had in place.

The love coach was Helton.

If you would have thrown a pool table in the description, I would have thought you were talking about Dimel.
Jenkins was the "let's splice pictures of naked women into the game film to liven things up when we review film coach".

Jenkins was great at getting the talent to do what he wanted. He was a great teacher/coach. He just really sucked at getting the talent to UH.
I think keeping Jack Pardee would have benefitted us more than keeping Jenkins as head coach because JP was a "name" in pro football, and he'd coached teams to championships in every league he coached in. I don't think we would have slumped as long with him running things.
JP's "problem" was he really wanted to get back into coaching in the NFL.
I blame the Houston Oilers for starting UH's demise.
