No ketchup, relish etc. A little Franks sprinkled on top if you like the extra kick is acceptable.

Fun fact they call those "Michigans" in Adirondacks/Champlain Valley

Great food in Upstate NY

You have to be kidding!

You can put a typical Publix store into a typical Wegmans store maybe 3 or 4 times. Its no comparison. Although, I must admit that I was surprised how much Publix has improved over the years. But still, no comparison.

I don't see this as a good thing. Personally I like going to different areas of the country and having different stores. I am not a fan of every street corner up and down the east coast having the same grocery, drug stores and banks.

Wegman's is loved by Upstate NY'ers since they bring some of home to new areas for the diaspora.

Not this former Upstater. If I wanted to live in NY I would. I don't need little NY in NC.

I agree with this, but that horse is long out of the barn.

Oh I know. America is one long strip mall.

I am just doing my old man thing. It really bugs the crap out of me when people move somewhere supposedly because they like there then want to turn it into the place they came from. If you like NY great but let NY be NY and NC be NC.

Luckily Publix in Atlanta has started carrying Hoffmans and it's a Godsend. I'm not kidding but it's a quality of life issue to me.

But I still miss Sahlens and Zweigles and bring back a bunch to freeze every time I'm up there.

BTW, the Louisville based fans preferred Hofmann's over Zweigles and Sahlens..04-cheers My Buffalo friend swears by Wardynski

He says they are better than Sahlens

BOOOOO!

Zweigles are better!

My Rochester wife sez the same thing...both of you are misguided. 03-lmfao

Love Zweigles!!! God I miss the White Hots!!

Wegmans coming to Chapel Hill next year. The Triangle now will have two Yankee Entrapment Areas.

Greensboro then Charlotte?

Maybe,. But I bet they move into Charlotte in 17-18 and skip the Triad for a few more years.

This is what happens when you invite Syracuse to join your conference. What next, football games on Friday night?

I lived up north for awhile and had to shop at Wegmans and I will admit it a nice store. But Publix and Kroger will strangle this southern incursion like kudzu. Its like saying Wawa's is going to take over.

No way.... different missions. Kroger is nothing special...Publix is decent but not close to Wegmans. Wegmans draws a different crowd who will travel further and linger there.

Wegmans southern strategy appears to cherrypick high income areas with healthy doses of New Yorkers in the area.

When I moved to Raleigh, there were essentially only two restaurants worth a dam, and you had to brown bag your own liquor if you wanted a drink with your dinner.

Then all those Yankees moved in and ruined all that.

So they are going up against Whole Foods, Sprouts and Harris Teeters? I just don't see the available niche.

I get most of my groceries at ALDI. If I can't find something there I go to the IGA, Weis, Giant, etc. If not there, then it's Wegman's.

Obviously you don't live in Pittsburgh anymore...the closest Wegman's is either Erie or State College.

Correct. I forgot we even had locations listed on here. I'm in NEPA now, and so the closest is Wilkes-Barre.

When I was leaving Pittsburgh, Giant Eagle was creating huge "Market District" stores which I think were really modeled after Wegman's.

Market District is not as nice as Wegman's. There is no grocery chain in Pittsburgh as nice as Wegman's, even Food Gallery which got bought by Market District.
