Duke?

Is that a loaded game or what? Some see that last L against them as the football joke around NC. Carolina Suks..well YOU LOST TO DUKE!!!--know what I mean. Perhaps beating them could start the trend upward.

Beating Duke will be poetic. While there's no question we were on our downhill slide before we played them in 2002, there's absolutely no doubt that 99% of Pirate fans knew we were in big trouble when we lost that game.

I see beating them to start the season as retribution, and will begin the journey of our return to prominence. Just pray that it doesn't rain.

This is what I see through my purple shaded glasses....

DUKE--(W)e got this one!

at Wake Forest -- c(L)ose but no victory.

at West Virginia--p(L)ease, we should cancel this series.

SOUTHERN MISS (L)oss, but a much better showing than last year.

RICE (W)in for ECU

at SMU (W)hat a trip to Tejas.

at Memphis (W)e deserve better than a punt from the 25yard line.

UCF* (W)oohoo, 4 wins in a row.

at Tulsa (W)hy do we have to travel to OK?

at Marshall (L)ots of emotions for the home team, but I put this one in the (w)ho knows.

UAB* (W)e owe you a couple.

So that makes us 7-4 with a possible 8-3 if we can pull the Marshall game out. That should make Skip the coach of the year! 03-wink :ecu:

I'll take these and I think you guys will beat Wake. I'm in Charlotte now, can the regular public buy tickets to sit in the ECU section in WS?

Well, I'm delusional from mid summer boredom and I'm predicting 7 wins plus a bowl game. Why not? We left 2 or 3 wins on the table last year. Pick off those and improve by 2 and voila. 04-cheers

I have a hunch Marshall has better overall speed and talent on the offensive side of the ball than we presently have. I think they will outscore us. This type of fan attitude(some call realism) I have after the last few years is a hard demon to exorcise and that is why I don't think we will go 11-0.

It's just a hunch...so.... 04-cheers here's hoping I'm wrong. 03-wink

I picked Marshal to beat us as well, but I also predicted losses to Wake, WVU, & SMiss. I was just wondering why you chose us to lose only to Marshal in Conference. 04-cheers

I predict 11-0, because I refuse to go to a game planning in advance that we will lose. I know the possibility of disappointment exists (hey, I'm a Pirate fan:)), and I know it is unlikely we or anyone else will go 11-0, but it is possible and awfully fun to dream about.

I had those dreams once, but JT cured me of them. I am counting on Skip to bring them back! :)

The best dreams are the ones you don't expect. That's why I'll never expect to go 11-0. :D

ECU better strap on their "A" game when they visit Huntington to take on the HERD. Went to an open practice over the weekend. I have never seen such an upbeat practice at Marshall. They were flying around the ball. A lot of analyst have not given to much praise as usual. You can see the different attitudes from every player. The are jacked up! I never saw practices like this under Donnan or Pruett. Coach Snyder and his staff will have these guys ready. A large number of players sat out last year that the analyst weren't aware plus a few late signees. JUST WAIT! GIVE'M HELL HERD!!!!!!!!!!

I could easily see y'all winning 4 or 5 games this year. Asking for an 8-3 or 9-2 record after having a 2-9 season, along with hiring a first-time head coach sounds like asking a little too much. Playing the cupcakes of the west will help.

ThunderMax: See how spirited they are after day 15 of practice. That will tell the tale.

MDV483: I prefer my 9-2 record as I look through my purple shades while drinking the magical purple kool-aid.

The Pirate Nation is getting a little giddy that we are on our way back...quickly.

We'll find out if we are legit in due time....on the field.
