How much will K.J.
help or hurt this team . He's got a good little floater (jumper) in the lane he seems to get when he wants but will him being inserted in the lineup throw off the current flow of the offense ?

This is if he's able to play at all .

I think he's going to be out a while. It hurts our depth because when we get foul trouble we gotta play either Nick or Jake.

KJ is needed but if he is not going to be 100% for a while let him get his medical redshirt.

KJ's size is a big plus, allowing him to play the paint when necessary at the 3.
OTOH, Marshall is getting quality minutes and progressing, as a result of our shortened bench.

I don't think Marshall can go more than a few minutes at a time. He hobbles up and down the court. He goes straight to the stationary bike when he comes out

Jason Smith tweeted that he wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play again this season.

If that's the case, then I'm sure glad Dedric decided to come out early by reclassifying.

Achilles I believe ...

Wouldn't surprise me if we don't see KJ play again this season.

"University of Memphis freshman forward K.J. Lawson will miss his fifth straight game with an Achilles injury Thursday at Cincinnati, coach Josh Pastner said this afternoon."

I think if KJ plays in one more game then he can't get a medical redshirt for the year. That would certainly be a factor in deciding whether to play him or not. Achilles takes a while to heal.

Rest is the only way for a calf or Achilles to heal. Not a good injury to have during the season.

Can he still get a redshirt? He played in what...ten games or so?

To get a medical redshirt you have to
(a.) Have a season ending injury
(b.) Played in less than 30% of the games
(c.) Not played after the 2nd half of the season.

We play 31 regular season games. The NCAA does the math like this .30x31 = 9.3. It's always rounded up the next whole game so he can play in 10 games before he loses the redshirt. So far he has played in 10 games.

the idea of trying to play basketball with a bum Achilles sounds ridiculously painful.

It may be worse than a knee injury
