The big day is almost here and coaches are in full recruit mode. Just wondering how people feel about their current prospects (I know things will change upto the last minute, but based on current verbal commits). Are holes being filled, depth being built, potential diamonds in the rough? Are you excited, feeling good, dissapointed, worried? Any surprises, like a recruit you didn't expect due to distance or competition? Maybe its too soon and nobody wants to show their hand yet.

Even with the coaching change and the former coach offering half our commits to follow him, GS's 2016 is shaping up to be the best ever (on paper) and one of the largest. Some very big recruits (in size and ratings) have verbals and it looks like players that could make immediate impact and fill needs. Lots of potential for growth. The new staff has hit the ground running and has gotten decommits to recommit and several new commits. Not only do we have a lot of connections in GA/FL, but the new staff seems to have contacts in the North and out West too (commits from NY and TX). Overall very excited to see how these players careers turn out.

honestly, very quite on the App front, not that necessarly a bad thing, we have 3 or 4 3 star committed, GS is pushing hard on a couple of our commitments but as of now, they standing firm with us, had a couple of kids in the weekend, next weekend is suppose to be a larger group. Not sure how large this class will be, other than OL and DE we are pretty much loaded for next year, instead of using the blanket approach, and bringing in a large group, it appears we are being more selective, have to wait and see how it plays out the last month.

Started slow, but beginning to pick up on the GSU side. Just had a 3 star UCF commit flip to us this past weekend. Had a large group visit this weekend he was a part of. Hopefully we can get some more from that visit.

Our BobcatInsider (@ Texas Redzone Report) put up a list last week with 15 commits and 5 mid years.
In other words, it's likely the most complete/accurate.

The new staff hit the ground running when they touched down in TX. Coach is on CA today (per his twitter). We lost 4/5 RB commits so we need at least 1 more (1 RB decommit still interested but we'll see). They're picking up offense but we really need DLine help.

So, basically, up to 5 more scholarships available as of right now. Really hope they go with D.

Quiet over the weekend. I think some of the staff went to WTs funeral in Mississippi.

I'm fine with our class..,the most dire need is wide receiver and we addressed that. Unlike Willie Fritz, Tyson Summers doesn't seem to believe in sharing scholarships for a rainy day. We have some unrated recruits but they at least look promising on film.

I wouldn't read too far into their class ranking or their average star rating.

Their class technically isn't 49th. They're allowed to sign well over 25 and each recruit is worth a certain number of points. Most have around 21 right now where they have 31. UAB is also in a position to sign many athletes that are risks academically that they normally would not due to their situation. Some, if not many, of them won't ever see the field.

They won't be pushovers though. Bill Clark will bring back a strong UAB eventually if he sticks around. Probably sooner rather than later.

Troy is killing it on the recruiting trail. We just got a solid commit from a Class 7A Mr. Football Lineman of the Year Finalist in Walter Prichett. Our strength in this class is the OLB, WDE, and BAN positions. This also happens to be the strength of our defense and is what Vic Koenning hangs his hat on. Troy will send several edge rushers to the league in the near future.

We signed highly rated former Auburn receiver in Dominic Walker over the break. He joins former Auburn cornerback Kamryn Melton, who was also highly rated coming out of high school.

We are currently 3rd in the 247 recruiting rankings. I can see us finishing anywhere between 3rd and 5th. This is an improvement over the last class, which was an improvement over the one before it. We are on the rise for sure.

Troy is 3rd in the sbc in recruiting according to 24/7

That followed a flipping a 3 star Syracuse commit.

Yeah, we don't have many numbers yet. And by that I mean we only have nine commits at the moment. But these nine include two early enrollees, who I think can be pretty good for us, and two three stars. The three stars is an all purpose back, which is really freaking nice and the other is an three star athlete who I'm pretty sure is going to play safety. We have one guy who is unrated as of right now but we keep emailing 247 to evaluate him but they havent done it yet but the guy is a defensive end who seems to have a ton of speed. Numbers wise, I'm concerned but I think we have a couple of talented kids and more who are high on us.

247 is the slowest site on the face of the earth. Its so slow and times out often. Our scout site is on point. 247 used to be way more on top of it but seems to be getting worse as time goes on.

Does CBS own them?

I expect a few P5's to come in late and steal 2 or 3 of our top recruits, but even if they do I think we will still have a really solid class.

I generally dismiss the ratings services at the G5 level since it's such a crapshoot, but the fact that we're bringing in about 1/4 as many JCs this year as we have since Petrino took over makes me feel really good about the team in general. Obviously the coaches feel we finally enough talent and depth to not have to plug a bunch of holes and to build the team the right way.

Our class seems to be fine. As usual, we will probably shuffle around at the end when a couple guys end up lower P5. Nothing shocking around these parts.

If you're referring to 24/7, yes. CBS purchased them a few weeks ago.

I have no influence on ratings, BTW. I can't even get USA players rated half the time.

I think Southern has the highest rated commit for the belt. And he is a WR. go figure. lol
