Bingo.

Let's not lose sight of this. If nothing else, this dude (a Memphian) came out of here and has played 2 seasons in the NBA. He's made a chunk of change and has set himself up for a good life. He also has a college degree and made connections that will last a life-time.

In today's world of college athletics, this should be celebrated. We'll never know if he'd have made it to the NBA had he stayed at Memphis his final year, but given the circumstances, I'm glad it's worked out for him.

Same can be said for Ian Clark. And his cousin Keith, was a Tiger Football defensive star in the late 70's out of Carver.

If not for a knee injury his Senior year I believe Keith would have played in the NFL. He did spend a couple of years in the league on practice squads. I'm trying to remember but I believe he was drafted in a late round (12 total rounds back then) even though he had the injury. Hard to recover from Knee injuries back then.

So Scott is pretty much saying what other coaches have said in regards to Tarik. Not a knock but I think it just shows that he is what he is and has been. I'm happy for him though, he's making a ton of cash playing in the NBA. I hope he comes home a wealthy man after a long career and gets to set up the organization to help the community he's talked about. That would be cool for one of Memphis' own.

Actually what Scott is saying is the exact opposite of what the Rocket's coach had to say about Tarik.

As one of Tarik's biggest advocates, I think Scott is overestimating his ceiling in the NBA.

I like Scott but I bet Tarik is with the Lakers longer than Scott will be.

it just goes to show that the whole idea of NBA teams developing players...is a myth...you better work on that game and be ready and STAY ready...

LA Coach asked about T Black's development and playing time (or lack there of). Condensed reply was that TB was told this past summer what it would take and what he would need to bring to the team as far as playing style to achieve more time. (Think Ben Wallace/Rodman effort) Coach Scott doesn't seem to think that TB gets it, yet. Coach Scott ask reporters to ask him what he was told and come and tell me what he says.... (Uh oh)

TB's reply was that his mid range is better.... Doesn't look like he is mentally connecting what needs to happen with his desire to get to the next level in his play.

Hmmmmm... Sounds like we heard that before from TB....

The fans disagree with Byron Scott. But keep up with the anti Tarik/ pro Josh agenda
Wow, BB ..... nice reach.

No anti-Tarik agenda or Pro-Josh for that matter. Bill Self had the same issues. I think TB's game is much more suited to the NBA. I said that while he was here.. I always wonder why people are always looking for something nefarious to add into a thread.

BB, I was just trying to give a condensed version of the article to the poster who asked. try again somewhere else.... 05-mafia

TB didn't do anything personally and measurably different at Kansas than he did here to get in the NBA. He was born with an NBA body. We wanted more out of him, got it a few times but I'm not sure if he can be anything more than what he is. But people can make a nice living being a journeyman role player off the bench. Nothing wrong with that for a few years until the real world kicks in.

He's just a great kid and a massive success story.

Yep. He graduated from Memphis and moved on. I don't get the Tarik dislike.

Give most people the choice of Scott as an NBA head coach or Tarik as a backup NBA center, and Tarik wins all day long.
