We are a 5 1/2 point underdog. About what I'd expect. Game is at Akron and we struggle badly against them at the JAR.

Anyway, I think Akron is a bit overhyped this year, but we have not done well in the JAR under Murphy. We will have our hands full with not one, but two "BIG men" in Johnson and Forsythe. They also jack up (and make) a lot of threes, with Jackson, McAdams, Kretzer (how are those two still there?), and Robotham all taking more than 4 a game.

On paper, it's an awful matchup, plus they are coming off of back-to-back losses and are likely desperate for a win. We handled them last year, and the key this year will be forcing their young guards to make stupid decisions with the ball. Easier said than done, but I think this ends up being a lot closer of a game than many will think.

On a larger scale, we have a pretty tough 4-game stretch coming up. @Akron, Ball State, @Kent, @WMU. 2-2 would be nice in that stretch, but I wouldn't be shocked with 1-3. The schedule eases up a bit after that and gives us a chance to make a run, but it would be nice to find a couple wins in the next four. Finally beating WMU in K'zoo again would be nice. Haven't done it since Murphy's first year.

Agree with Sam. Look at our conference stats:

Points for: 80 Points against 78.

Akron is scoring and giving up around 70 points (giving up a few more than scoring).

That doesn't suggest a defensive game...

What an awful feed. No scoreboard or clock. You'd figure with how good they are traditionally at hoops, they'd have better video.
