Tennessee beat South Carolina today. Looks like all our seed numbers are falling.

Good point - everyone throws that stat around like it means something. When our opponents offensive effeciency is one of the worst in the country...

Are we good defensively, or do we just play really bad offensive teams.

Kenpom adjusts the stats for the opponent. So it still applies.

Link?

If you're not smart enough to go to KenPom and see his iterations, I'm certainly not going to "link" you to it.

So why can’t this year’s team beat good and/or ranked teams? If the defense is ranked so high one would think we’d luck up and win one. We have had our chances but lost all of them.

And while you’re at it why have all of Pastner’s teams had trouble winning against good/ranked teams in games that mattered?

Have you had an occasion to look at Cal's teams prior to the arrival of the Laurinburg Prep buys?

Yes I saw his UMass teams get to an elite 8 in his 3rd year. UMASS! A school that hadn't had a winning record in a decade

How's that number 1 seed looking now?

Well, as a former player and as someone who has had the privilege of speaking at lengths with former and current Div I basketball coaches the gist of it is that we run absolutely NO offense at all. Our players have little idea about how to score other than through transition after opponent made/missed shots and turnovers.

Not only do we NOT run virtually any plays during an average possession, but our offense has no clue about the fundamental aspects of offense plays like how to collapse a defense to free up outside shooters, how to manage the shot clock, how to run a single or double screen, running inside-outside passes, etc.

There are a lot of other key things I see each and every game that just make my head turn and know, beyond a shadow of a doubt that what we have as far as coaching is NOT Div I level coaching. We've given this guy nearly 7 years and he still hasn't figured it out. I know it, a couple of my former coaches know it, several Div I coaches know it.

Why can't the rest of our fans clue in on it? It's not quantum physics.

Are we still in contention for a #1 seed or are we in a dogfight for the lower tier. We need to update this thread title ASAP

I take it you haven't noticed the defense the last two games

C'mon gentlemen. No need to fight. The offense and defense have been equally bad.
