All Ohio CBB Mini Tournament
First, I loathe CBB but it does occupy some time. My CBB knowledge is not the best on this board.
One thing that I would like to see is an early season mini tournament amongst the top 5 or 6 programs in Ohio.
I think it is high time that Ohio State accepts that as a good thing for their program.if not don't include them.
Most importantly, I believe that it would energize CBB in the state of Ohio and enhance the stature of both the programs and the sport to a level almost commensurate with the surprisingly good talent level in Ohio HSBB.

How would you structure the tournament and how many/which teams do you include?
I would think there could be a rotation for some programs?

RE: All Ohio CBB Mini Tournament
I have long thought a Cincinnati form of the "Big Five" from Philadelphia would be interesting:
-UC
-Xavier
-Dayton
-Wright State
-Northern Kentucky
-Miami-Ohio

I think they are all in different conferences, so that should be OK, whether in a tournament format or just a round-robin could be figured out. All local teams, so travel wouldn't be a problem.

It won't happen, but it'd be cool.

People bring this up all of the time for about a decade on this board. We already play X, Dayton would be nice.
The others, no. Doing something in Indianapolis with Purdue, IU, Butler or ND is much more appealing.

These are all good thoughts. I think a SW Ohio or Tri state shootout would work.
However, I would prefer Ohio teams only in order to showcase Ohio talent.
I wouldn't care if it was on TWCS or STO. Kentucky & Indiana don't need any more help with their basketball reputations.

I am not sure an all Ohio tournament would work without Ohio State. Cincinnati and Dayton need to play each year, no excuse on UC's side not to play the game. I would like to see UC play two schools out of the Ohio, Kent State, Akron, Toledo, Wright State, Miami OH, and BGSU group each season as well.

NKU and Wright State are both in the Horizon Conference.

I agree with this. UC, XU, UD, OSU should form a foundation of four for the tournament.

yup...they should.

But there is one school in your list of four that is too chicken%#! to do it. Can you guess which one would say 'no'? I will give you a clue...they aren't the best program in the state but they think they are.

The thing I hate, the more I thought about this thread/concept, is that...as things stand right now... UC would get their asses whipped by ALL THREE of XU, UD, and OSU.

It's like the old game from "Sesame Street": One of these things is not like the other. One of these things just doesn't belong.

Ohio State has been beat down by just about every good team they have played. Maryland beat them by 35, IU by 25, and UConn by 20. They did lose by smaller margins against La Tech, Memphis, UTA, and Virginia. Dayton lost to La Salle and Chattanooga, best wins are against Iowa and George Washington. On UC's home court they might favored against all three including Xavier, yes Cintas is a huge home court advantage.

I know you guys are down on your performance, but personally if they played and I'd probably predict a UC victory. Ohio State basketball has serious issues this year.

The only thing that would make me hesitate in that prediction would be OSU has generally won when not being blown out as of late, and UC has struggled with close games. That said, I'd still predict a Buckeye loss this year and think the Maryland and Indiana games were no flukes.

Thats kind of you but have you seen UC play this year?

I have watched a little OSU and the game would go either way. Both teams have major issues and neither is very good.

XU is legit.

I have not watched Dayton so I cannot comment on the Flyers.
