Bruce Pearl is EXACTLY the man for our job. He is bad a$$ and knows how to recruit, motivate, and COACH.

BP's sub 500 team knocked off Cal and UK when they were severely out matched and out talented.

This post is different because as a 46 year tiger fan I've seen enough to know what type coach will win and win big at Memphis. Pearl may be the best of any we've ever had.

I am going to commit to something i shouldn't do b/c Im not in the same atmosphere as our BIG BIG donors but here it is....

I do not live in Memphis any longer and I am too far away to travel to home games to get ANY personal perks such as priority seating and invitations to all the Hob Knob events etc....

Asking for noting in return personally I am making a personal pledge to the TSF for $50,000 LUMP SUM payment IF our admin will hire Bruce Pearl at the end of the season.

I am a medium well funded person and willing to dig into my retirement savings to offer $50,000 to the athletic department.

If someone is tight with our AD Tom B then have him send me a PM so I can show him my level of commitment to bring a winner back to memphis basketball

Besides the fact that Cals team is a mess and very likely will not make the NCAA themselves if not for their name. You want to hire someone who makes Cal look like a saint when it comes to character and ethics. The man has a long history of unethical behavior and rule breaking. He is someone the U of M cannot go near since it does not have the political protection of a P5 conference.

Pearl4Prez just doesn't have the same ring to it.

The time to hire Pearl is gone and that ship has sailed. In a year or two he will be a top coach in the SEC and battling for the conference championship.

Makes no sense whatsoever for him to even remotely consider Memphis in the position he is at now.

Don't dig into your retirement savings to dig out an administration that was shortsighted and a bunch of business people who made a terrible deal without an out. We all already did that with the real estate collapse

Disagree. He's had mediocre results at auburn and is just starting to get momentum but not a lot. This might be a year auburn is willing to let him out of his contract cheaper

That is the move we should have made a couple of years back. I doubt it ever happens now, but he would have brought back the excitement to our program that has been waning the last several years. The administration has been able to ignore (what most fans knew) until this until this season. Pastner has to make a strong run or he is finished here imo. Every season under him has ended in a disappointing manner despite the gaudy record. It is what it is. Sad thing is I really like Pastner, but he just hasn't been able to get it done.

Yes, let's hire an 8-8 coach who is 1-5 on the road and has zero wins vs top 100 rpi teams.

Losses to MTSU, Harvard, Hawaii, Mizzou among others.

BP had a nice run but he hasn't shown he survived is ban and frankly his history is tainted by his actions. Let's let BP go his own way without inserting Memphis in the sentence and look for at least 50 put there that would be better choices when the time comes to make another hire.

For discussions like this are why I decided to join this forum. Now we're gettin' somewhere.

What much is it worth to the university to resuscitate Tiger basketball? It's dead on the table now.

This thread makes this thread pretty confusing.

Since all of this hypothetical, how do any of us know that an effort to see if he was interested was not made? Getting a coach to leave a P5 to come to a G5 is not an easy thing.

Pearl is a terrific coach and would kill it here.
