AAC leading
Going into today's game the Tigers lead the AAC in the following

Blocked Shots Per Game
Defensive Rebounds per Game
Field-Goal Percentage Defense
Free Throw Attempts
Free Throws Made
Total Rebounds Per Game
Turnovers Forced

And top 10 nationally in all but turnovers forced

This team is doing some things well. The RPI / eye test against quality opponents isn't there yet, but hey we got Cincy Thursday.

Put up or shut up. Win Thursday and the faith around here will go up a lot.

I want to kick some Bearcat rear Thursday. 03-wink

Quality opponents? See Gary Parrish for who the #1 team will be Monday.

We lost.
We played well, but we lost however.

When I meant quality opponents, I should have said quality WINS.
Because wins count for NCAA purposes, not 'Nice effort, Nice try' games.

Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of that game and thought our lads played well, but we also have losses to UTA and Ole Miss.

And we are 1-5 against the top 100. Not the top 25, the top 100.

Our entire at large profile right now is, we beat Ohio State who beat UK.
That's it, it's all we got for an at large profile.

RPI 117?

We got a LOT of work to do.

....

We can do it however, I have faith. Just no margin.

And Maryland beat OSU by 35 today.
Triple-digit RPI should NEVER happen at Memphis.

I think we lost to them didn't we.. I wouldn't want to play them right now that team has improved big time..The Ohio St. win isn't very impressive as it once was thought to be as they have been throttled 2 of their last 3 games.. Them beating Kensucky helped but Kensucky is proving to be over hyped..

I'm not saying it should never happen, but it shouldn't be a common issue.

Part of the issue is the low quality of our buy games. 6 >200 RPI games out of 17. Over a third. We HAVE to schedule better.

Kenpom has us at 75, which I feel is far more accurate, but it doesn't matter.

117 or 75, it's win 3 in a row in March or go home.

I don't mind the down year, I mind the schedule giving us structurally little chance to have a strong case. Too much tofu on this schedule, not enough steak.

I agree in recent years, we'd have 1 or 2 real RPI-anchor OOC games. Those can really be a drag and this year it seems we've had 5-6 250+ teams. That is tough to overcome. Was CJP solely responsible for the schedule or did Bowen get involved.

I count success as deep tourney runs.

You count success as winning regular season home games against bad/mediocre teams.

I want our program to do great things.

You obviously want our program to be mediocre.

I guess that's the difference between you and me.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I like the rankings and think it's great that the team is showing such gumption.

I just know we need some wins.

Continue to pimp the positive, it actually is a good thing to acknowledge!

That's not nice. And besides, it's not like sanity is a hallmark of our posters.

Reasonably certain most would find both of us a little batty as well Mr. Beard.

Carry on.

No you want the program to reach an unrealistic level which it has never been before except for a short 4 years period with questionable behavior by the staff and a bag man. The program has NEVER sustained such a level for any period of time that it had those four years. And unless you are willing to risk being placed on probation again it will not ever be at that level for any sustainable period of time. History has told us that. We are NOT in the top 50 programs in the country based on wins.

Your unrealistic expectation is why no one wanted this job after Cal left. And will be hard to get anyone to take it if CJP leaves.
