BYU ?
Why the love affair with BYU? They are a decent football program for sure but only decent. One of the major problems the Big 12 has is a lack of top 20 TV markets. BYU is in Utah and nobody lives there. Not only that they are half way to Seattle....makes little sense.

RE: BYU ?
Strong name recognition. National appeal due to its religious affiliation. 60K average attendance. Solid football and basketball. They are the best available pick on the board---but are high maintenance and geographically challenged to a degree.

Houston has a city, BYU has a religion...that is all.

When was the last time a Houston fan rode their bike to your house and knocked on the door? They are everywhere.

Everyone knows BYU. Coast to coast.

I got pizza delivered to me in Austin by a Baylor alumni once. Such a bad ROI on that education lol...

I respect BYU for walking out on the MWC. Would've been sweeter if their "project" worked.

RE: BYU ?
Probably because they have huge value.

Large national fan base (no TV market does not matter due to this)
$65k athletic budget, with zero subsidies from university or students
60k average football attendance
15k average basketball attendance
History of on field success in several sports
Top 100 academic university
Over 1 billion dollar endowment
30k student body
Huge National brand

Name one school that's not in a P5 conference currently that can match or beat that. Hell, there's only a hand full that are in a P5 that can beat that.

Utah is actually a very fast-growing state. Lots of Californians and others moving there. Low taxes and great business climate means jobs, jobs and more jobs.

Tradition, coast-to-coast name recognition and large faithful fan base.

Educate yourselves on the real factors of conference realignment. Wins are not the end all of movement.
