Orris with an awful turnover near midcourt. Ball ends up bouncing to a WMU guy who has a break away. Seemed like the guy tried to go up for a dunk and lost the ball right before he went up. Baker was flying in from directly behind him, jumped and basically tackled the guy from above. Guy who got fouled gets up and charges toward Baker who is on the ground under the basket. Everyone following the play flies in. Lamont from WMU gets in Maric's face. Apparently some of our guys left the bench...the bench that was 5 feet away. It takes the refs 15 minutes but they decide to eject Baker, Wilson, Zelis and Thomas. Maric and Lamont get T's. Instigator gets nothing. No ejections for WMU.

And now missed two layups in a row, ugh

Yeah, they might have left the bench, but it was 3 feet away from the fight of course they would get up.

Me too. What a joke. No way Baker should've been ejected. It was a flagrant on Baker that was escalated into an almost brawl by the WMU turd. There is no "clear-path rule" like in the NBA. Make it a rule if you're going to call it that way.

You can't eject the entire team if a two man fight breaks out right where they're standing and they "leave the bench" trying to avoid it. Those four must have gone further than anyone else but who knows. I'd love to know how they distinguished that those four left the bench decidedly more than anyone else. I'm more confused as to why the guy who starts the confrontation doesn't get tossed.

Shocking it is only a 12 point game after all that.

I have faith NIU will win. WMU is lights out from 3 and we are shooting bad. I think Monty will tell them to stop focusing on the ejections and win it for the guys who were tossed out. The boys played the first half with that fight on their mind.

Time to regroup after that mess of a 1st half.
Come out strong in the 2nd and earn the toughest (circumstance wise) road win of the year.

Leaving the bench? It's not like it was at half court...it was on that goofy track area next to the bench. That where the WMU guy ranto after he got up and went ballistic. I think the MAC officials went way too far. I can see the Trayvon ejection to make a point...but that was hardly "leaving the bench".

I dislike this conference more every day.
