William & Mary Tribe

Record vs. D-I: 10-4 (4-1)
RPI: 44
SOS: 85
Best Wins: @ Charleston (# 84), @ NC State (# 120)
Bad Loss: @ Howard (# 258)

Not much needs to be said here, as CoastGuard can certainly provide a much more detailed scouting report.

The Tribe beat us twice last season, and much like we got revenge on Elon last night for keeping us from an NIT bid, a Saturday night (2 PM) victory to avenge those losses would not only be an emotionally satisfying win, it would provide our first "marquee" victory of the season. It would also vault the Seahawks into a share of first place IF Hofstra (4-1) also loses at home against James Madison (3-2).

Tony Shaver's squad are most certainly going to be tired after an exhausting win down in the "other" Port City, where they snuck out a victory after nearly blowing a 21-point lead against Charleston. The key will be to keep the game close in the first half and apply as much pressure as possible for 40 minutes. Expect a great, entertaining game between two teams that know how to score in bunches.

They are a bit of a different team than last year with a much more balanced attack and they ALWAYS attack.

I said it before, but their #1 option to score consistently is Omar Prewitt. You have to stop him on defense or it's gonna be a long afternoon.

Also, David Cohn has to be one of the quickest guards in the conference and draws fouls like a three-toothed streetwalker attracts lonely pervs. I could see Talley staying with him but also getting whistled a lot.

If Burchfield comes in the game keep a hand in his face. All he does is shoot threes. That's it.

Don't get lazy on passes or Tarpey will make you pay. He steals balls and interrupts passing lanes more than senile grandparents on a crowded highway.

Sheldon, and Whitman will present huge problems in the post. Whitman was injured for much of the start of the season but was the primary reason they destroyed NU last Saturday. He's a load. Then they have Hunter SeaCat, the freshman reserve big who will see only limited garbage minutes now that Whitman is back.

Another "out of nowhere" potential game changer is Greg Malinowski. He has a knack for just always being in the right spot. He's got a good outside shot and can bang a little inside and rebound.

And don't forget Daniel Dixon. Excellent ball handler, passer, shoots the lights out and is a great all-around player.

All in all, look for this to be a tough game. Strong defense will be the key here. WM has more offensive and defensive weapons than they did last year. Play smart, play tough and we can get it done.

Keys to the game:

Frustrate David Cohn and get in his head. Force him to make mistakes.

Deny Omar Prewitt the ball.

Run Tarpey until he's out of breath.

That harder you run WM, the worse they get at the FT line.

You're right. I was looking on warrennolan.com's RPI page for W&M and they said 7 PM there. Not sure why they had it wrong. Fixed on the first post to avoid confusion.

Lol. Thanks.

Also, it's again time we discuss two things.

1. Who is gonna make the trip to Williamsburg?

2. Baltimore. We should begin discussions... I'll start a thread for it.

It's become less of a sucker-punch at this point he knows it's coming.

Yeah... Except that shot didn't even make it to the bow, let alone across.

There's no need to load the long guns when someone's firing a pump action air rifle.

Haha. It's a canned humorous response from us enlisted types.

Also...

Things are warming up over on the WM board.

Admittedly our angst from last night mirrors what you guys dealt with in Williamsburg last year. Just try and avoid throwing things on the court tomorrow.

That's quite the interesting line. I expect it to get closer and/or we become dogs the closer it gets to game time.
