16 Shaq >> 15 Nichols
As strange as it sounds the numbers bear it out

Shooting better from the line, the floor more rebounds, assists and steals

With Shaq only shooting 8.25 shots a game Shaq is scoring 13ppg compared to Nichols shooting 11.25 per game and scoring 13.3 points.

I said last year that Nichols wasn't much better than Shaq, Nichols only shot more, seems I was right.

Austin LOOKED better. When he made a move it was pretty. Shaq frustrates the heck out of me, but gotta give the man credit...his numbers are solid.

Shaq's FT shooting has made an amazing turnaround.

Comparing a senior to a sophomore.

The numbers are basically the same except Shaq averages about 2 more rebounds and about 1.5 less blocks.

Shaq fouls more.

Nichols was at least a minor threat to hit a 3.

Shaq was a McDonald's AA. I expected more from him than averaging 13 and 8 as a senior on a mediocre team.

Of course our coach didn't have to make a Sophie's choice and pick one or the other. If he could communicate and run a program we'd have both of them and wouldn't that be better?

You haven't been keeping up. Unless the coach would wear a skirt and a wig he couldn't have kept the boy.

If Nichol's dad would have sprung for some tape Austin may have actually played out the season.

After Pastner's post game comments after the UConn game, I think Shaq is finally getting the message (maybe?) about the stupid play. He had an outstanding game last night. His free throw shooting has done an amazing turnaround the last few games.

RE: 16 Shaq >> 15 Nichols
I'm not debating Shaq vs Nichols, Nichols vs Lawson, Sr. vs Soph...etc. Bottom line for me is, when Nichols left, I lost a lot of hope for this team. Now that the season is underway, I see that Shaq has stepped up his game and Dedric is outplaying my expectations, so I'm thrilled to see that the team didn't really take a step back. They are actually playing a stlye that they wouldn't have been playing otherwise and they may even be playing with a little more heart for whatever reason. Those are all positives to me.

No, it is called addition by subtraction. Where have you been the last 7 years?

13 and 8 is solid

For comparisons sake, Tony Parker came out the same year as Shaq and was rated higher is averaging 13.8 and 10 with less steals, blocks and assists while committing more Turnovers and shooting 2 more shots a game.
