RE: Why wouldn't the SEC and B1G go to 20 schools now?
Considering the Pac 12 is already revenue trailing the SEC and Big 10. I also see it getting absorbed into those conferences.
By 2025 we will have to 2 32 team conferences.
Eventually one will pull away and in 2040 the SEC or the Big 10 will be a 64 team conference.

Sounds like the nonsense Chimp Brown is spewing yet again.
Never going to happen.

It seems like no one wants to go beyond 14 unless Notre Dame is involved.

If they didn't and there was no talk of it, Boren wouldn't be this bold.

Will never happen. And the conferences you proposed would never happen even if something this ludicrous ever were to occur. NC State and UNC would never be in different conferences.

Add 6 schools and get a CCG and a better shot at two teams in the CFB. The SEC and B1G could dissolve the ACC cooperatively to get there while picking up KU/OU from the BigXii.
B1G West: OU, KU, NEB, Iowa,UMN, Wisconsin, NW, ILL, IU, PU
B1G East: Mich, MSU, OSU, PSU, RU, UMD, UVA, UNC, Duke, GT
SEC West: A&M, Ark, Mizzou, LSU, Miss, MSU, Aub, Ala, UGA, FLA
SEC East: Vandy, UT, FSU, Clem, KY, SCar, NCST, VT, WVU, Pitt
Basketball stays as a single conference of 20 schools each.
Why wouldn't the SEC and Big 10 go to 20 right now?
1. The SEC is mostly obligated to ESPN who is needing to cut overhead not add to it.
2. The SEC is partially obligated to CBS who still just gets the first choice of a game each week so adding more doesn't add to their advantage and they won't pay for it.
3. The Big 10 can only find 4 candidates in the Big 12 that they could accept and they don't want (or are wanted by) but 2 of those.
4. The ACC won't be a part of this unless the Big 12 is picked apart.
5. The Big 10 can't take enough to get the dissolution of the Big 12 done. And if the SEC took any from the Big 12 it would be the same danged schools that the Big 10 wants.
6. The PAC isn't taking any unless the get either or both of Texas and Oklahoma, or possibly Kansas and guess what? Those are still the same danged schools that the Big 10 and SEC want.
7. The ACC isn't adding enough with the SEC to dissolve the Big 12 because ESPN needs to cut overhead!
8. All of this is why the Big 12 is still with us instead of a footnote in NCAA history!
