But since UNC is on probation for accreditation, I don't think schools are going to risk that since it is now seen that the regional accreditation agencies serious about keeping the creditability of being an accredited school. Accreditation is much, much more serious to the university than any kind of NCAA sanctions or penalties.
How many P5/major schools have ever lost accreditation?

None, but how many have ever been on probation? If it weren't for the new chancellor that took over in 2013, their accreditation would have been lost.

Exactly...none. And I suspect that none will ever lose accreditation for any transgression regarding student-athletes.

No, I believe you are wrong on that thinking.

If the same administration was still at the school, UNC would have lost its accreditation according the quote of the Accreditation President Wheelan.

Still, no school wants to be put on probation by the agencies.

They can say anything they want...I'll have to see it actually happen to believe.

Actually pulling the trigger and shooting a major state flagship P5 university in the head is a lot different than forcefully saying you would have done it IF.

Exactly. A non-P5 / non-FBS example. SC State was in shambles due to mismanagement and SACS has given them every opportunity to fix things. Pulling accreditation is a school killer so they threaten it but will only follow through in extreme circumstances.
