Thoughts from the Clemson/UNC fans on him? Particularly as a recruiter?
He replaces the departed special teams coach at GT who wasn't retained. Yes, GT now has two OL coaches and no ST only coach.
Paul Johnson never kicks anyway - he always goes for it on 4th down.

He hired a ST coordinator after his special teams burned him for four loses in just one season... largely at the behest of irate GT donors. Even if you don't kick FG you can still lose the game on kick return coverage, punt return coverage, terrible punting, inability to field kicks, and more.

What good timing -- Alabama may have just won the title on exploiting a weakness in how Clemson LINED UP on kickoffs. That demonstrates my point nicely.

Yep. Extremely disappointing (along with the blown coverage).

And right on cue, special teams burns Clemson again and cost them the game.

Not having a ST coach is stupid. Every year it costs teams games.

Paul Johnson doesn't think so. And he has a litany of special teams meltdowns at GT to prove you not the slightest bit wrong. On the other hand, the old ST coordinator was mediocre at best. But apparently the details of the message to PJ to "hire a *** **** ST coordinator" didn't include the important detail of "and make it a good one".

He's going to be an OL coach?
Good luck.
He came with Bowden from Tulane in 99 and somehow kept that job until '03 when he was moved over to the DL for one year, which other than Gaines Adams underachieved, then moved to LB from '05-'08 which also underachieved. When Dabo was named permanent HC at the end of the '08 season he was one of the first to be fired, which says a lot because he's a Clemson alum.
Average recruiter at best. Can't recall a single difference maker he was the primary recruiter on. The only good thing is he has bounced around so much (North Texas, Texas Tech, ULa-La, Baylor, Tulane, Clemson, Tulsa, Illinois, & North Carolina) that he might have ties nationwide.

Well the only thing I can add: Carolina's starting middle linebacker this year was a walk on. There is your recruiting story. The entire defensive staff was fired after the 2014 Heels gave up a record amount of yards and points.
Do you need anything else?

Seems like a pretty conclusive failure as a hire.

He was our linebackers coach under Fedora and helped contribute to the worst defense in UNC history. Enjoy.
