any word on if we will meet January 15th goal of 4.5M? I know the finish the drive website still shows a little short of that

Bleh, it says the graphic was updated January 4th, too. We've still got a few days.

Hatton said there is around a million dollars that the graph hasn't taken into account. He was very confident that we will meet that goal.

If you haven't paid, do so.

Smith said the group is starting to turn its attention to the planned football facilities. There have been preliminary talks with a few engineering and construction firms in town about the planning process for the new facilities, but he said a solid partnership has yet to be formed.

"We think the football facilities will be ready by the start of summer camp next year," Smith said. "It's quite an undertaking and there are still a lot of things to work out, but we're on the right track."

My concern is that the pledge was signed as a 5 year pledge. Can they force people to pay pretty much 3 years in less than a year's time? This was done outside the realm of the contract.

Legally force you? No, but they can say "well, we have to have $X dollars by this date or your football program gets it!"

But..

They imposed these deadlines after the pledges were made. They've already signed contracts with all the coaches. They've already brought back players. Do you really think they are going to go through the mortal hell they would unleash if they cancelled the program because they were 10% short of a self-imposed deadline 2 years ahead of the program actually needing the money? I'm not saying don't fulfill your pledges, and really you should do it as soon as you can, but, they're being jerks about wanting it all up front and they'll get it on my timeline that I told them when I pledged in the first place.

I don't put anything past the Board of Trustees and Ray Watts. Nothing surprises me unless Fess comes up and says he will make a $10 million donation.

In order to be on the foundation, weren't all the members required to make a donation? Never seen a 5 year pledge due in 3 years.

Brad updated it again on the 12th...........added about $650,000 to it. I bet he updates it again tomorrow, and it will be at or above the goal.

Does anybody know if they will be sending reminders? I don't know where my paperwork was moved to, and I'm happy to pay whenever, I just want to make sure it is on time.

They sent one to me, several, actually. The key is to make sure you note the pledge number when paying, especially if you do it online, so that they match your payment to your pre-existing pledge and get it to the right account.

I agree. I am sticking to my original agreement. We all know the BOT mandated this and not UAB no matter how Mark wants to spin it
