Ok I know its not a big deal or meaningful to any large extent but where do people think NIU ends up in the top 25 poll today. I will say #21 in the Mid Major Poll, and 1 wonky stray vote in either AP or Coaches poll.

I know what you mean, I definitely would feel that way for football, but basketball with 350 teams, I think it has turned out to be a good thing. It is an extra marketing tool. Plus when you have Gonzaga at the top of the poll every year, it kind of gives it some legitimacy. You have had so many mid-major teams make serious tournament runs, and I just don't feel like mid major basketball teams carry quite the negative stigma as it does in football.

Agreed, may as well make a G5 poll for football too if we are going this route. FBS should have 1 ranking, D1 ncaam should have 1 ranking.

I actually agree with MD here, there are so many teams in basketball that I think it makes sense. Looking at that list, probably the top 5 - 10 teams in the Mid-Major poll could have a chance at an at large bid. Something to shoot for in future years. I doubt the team itself is making a huge deal about it, but it's something.
