Pre-season Baseball All-American Listings
First time in quite some time we have not a single player named to any of Perfect Game's 3 preseason all-american teams (or either of Collegiate Baseball's two all-american teams)...

Note that Louisville has 3 pitchers on PG's first team, and UH has two pitchers (on their 3 teams).
Again, food for motivation.

Do you think oversight by PG or Collegiate Baseball? Or fair assessment of the team's players at the moment?

Actually, yes, I agree with their assessment based on individual performance in 2015. Big Jon probably would have made the list had he not missed all of last season with injury....and I believe he made a couple lists last year based on his great Summer in California. Fox made the preseason lists last year, but had a poor first two-thirds of the season. Both could and should bounce back big time this year. IMO, Otto has been flying under the radar (for all the pundits save for Kendall), and was snubbed for Freshman all-american honors last year. As for the offense, we have a bunch of quality, returning players who had good 2015 seasons (Teykl, Kopycinski, Chandler, Warren), but not of them of put up all-american type numbers.
I do have high hopes for this year's team, but we're going to go as far as our pitching will take us (Dup, Fox, Salinas, Otto, Myers, Pettitte, Solecitto). The offense will require a team effort, as opposed to one or two guys carrying us, and we'll need one or two guys (e.g., Gray, Myers) to truly breakout and provide us with at least some minimal pop.

I am guessing that this remark was to remind us that Rice Baseball is not a lock to contend for Omaha. The beauty of being a Rice Baseball fan is that they play in a sport that lets the best/hottest team at the end of the year win the national title. I enjoy the realitively long season and like to watch the journey. People improve, people regress, people get hurt, teams have good/bad luck, each and every year. I like watching the team define itself. I will savor each remaining game in the Graham years.

I agree with Walt's analysis re: the lack of all-Americans. Plenty of talented guys, but none of them were good enough or healthy enough to make the list going into the season. Hopefully there are quite a few on the post-season list, that is the one that matters more!

So you guys are making story, our best guys are not better than other's best guys, but our average/medium guys are more competitive than other teams?
otherwise, if the distribution of talent of every team are similar, then our avg talent is worse then top team's avg talent.
Educate me, if i am wrong.

Not meant to be snarky... just interesting that we have faced the exact same obstacles in terms of team makeup for what seems like forever. To be fair, we are very much a spoiled fanbase.

I'm happy for baseball season to start because we really COMPETE on a national level. That and there is nothing better than watching a Rice home game on a beautiful Spring afternoon or evening.
Oh..and baseball season may help us along at The Parliament to change the narrative .
