Tommy Trenderville... Why Tubs Should Be Extended
Bearcat fans,

I have followed TT's career for a long time, and I was pleased when you poached him from Texas Tech. It was a good hire for the conference. I am glad that you were able to achieve it.
That being said, I understand the hand wringing about this season. It's never fun to lose your last game. However, Houston and Navy picked up the slack for the conference, so we're all going to get paid.
You had some definite highlights this year. Beating Miami was important. Gunner Kiel is a good ambassador for the conference and shines very brightly on his Head Coach (to pull such a high profile recruit).
Tuberville's name has been worth its weight in gold. I'm looking forward to seeing Kiel next year, along with the better QBs in the conference, like Greg Ward Jr..
Tom Herman is experiencing similar recruiting successes this year, and I'm sure he looks at Tommy Tuberville with admiration.
That being said, I realize how disappointing it is to watch four other AAC programs residing on the Top 25 this year, and UC not being one of them.
But, I think it's important to keep things in perspective. At UC, Tommy Tuberville has never had a losing record. He is 9-4, 9-4, 7-6.
That is not a record to put a coach on the hot seat. If you compare his program at UC to his program at Auburn (that he led to a pristine season), Tuberville is ahead of schedule.
He's progression at Auburn was:
5-6, 9-4, 7-5, 9-4, 8-5, 13-0

The bottom line is to just hold your water. Gunner Kiel's Senior season will be special, and the man is building something good at UC, and that takes time.

If you're going to compare that to Tom Herman and UH, you're just going to sell yourselves short. That's not realistic.

Just turn that frown upside down. You know I'm right.

You make some fine points, but I'm afraid you came to the wrong place to preach patience and perspective. I suspect you should prepare to get blasted in 3, 2, 1....

You notice how a bunch of the fans of other AAC teams think Tuberville was a great hire and should be retained? Hm.

Love the comparison of the AAC and SEC records at the end.

RE: Tommy Trenderville... Why Tubs Should Be Extended
No blasting here... But some rebuttal points:
1) You stop with the 13-0. But what followed that? Oh...that's right...
2) Auburn is not Cincinnati and Cincinnati sure as hell ain't Auburn. By your "logic" Gene Chizik should be a hot Head Coaching prospect because he won at Auburn? But of course:
-Auburn plays in the SEC, not the AAC.
-Auburn has a history of...unsavory...recruiting accusations and getting away with it (whereas, an AAC team would almost certainly not have the sheer amount of money to pull such deals off and would certainly get tagged with crippling sanctions if caught) that gets Auburn access to certain players.
-Auburn has a rabid fanbase with little kids peeing Orange-and-Blue and singing "War Eagle" from birth.
3) The old stock adage: "Past performance is not a guarantee of future returns." Or more bluntly put--whatever Tommy Tuberville did in the past...when he was a younger man...has little to do with now or tomorrow.

I don't think ANY of those points are unreasonable or irrational. Quite the contrary, I think they are rather salient points.

33-5 and 21-3 in the SEC from 2004 to 2006. 2007 was a solid 9 win season an bowl victory too. This is also a coach that went on run of winning 6 out 7 bowl games. Prior to 2004 he numbers were rather average.

From 2008 to 2012 his resume is rather poor. 25-24 overall 11-23 in conference play. We know what is happening at UC.

He had a three year period where he was an elite coach and around 17 years that ranged from decent to below average.

When 'trolling' is fact is it really trolling?

This is in the same vein as the "Bo Knows" poster who pled his case to "hang onto that man" CTT because of all the greatness that once occurred at Auburn.

Absolutely. And the fact that anyone latched onto that troll post as some kind of validation is hysterical. Pure comic gold.
