Bearcat fans,
I have followed TT's career for a long time, and I was pleased when you poached him from Texas Tech. It was a good hire for the conference. I am glad that you were able to achieve it.
That being said, I understand the hand wringing about this season. It's never fun to lose your last game. However, Houston and Navy picked up the slack for the conference, so we're all going to get paid.
You had some definite highlights this year. Beating Miami was important. Gunner Kiel is a good ambassador for the conference and shines very brightly on his Head Coach (to pull such a high profile recruit).
Tuberville's name has been worth its weight in gold. I'm looking forward to seeing Kiel next year, along with the better QBs in the conference, like Greg Ward Jr..
Tom Herman is experiencing similar recruiting successes this year, and I'm sure he looks at Tommy Tuberville with admiration.
That being said, I realize how disappointing it is to watch four other AAC programs residing on the Top 25 this year, and UC not being one of them.
But, I think it's important to keep things in perspective. At UC, Tommy Tuberville has never had a losing record. He is 9-4, 9-4, 7-6.
That is not a record to put a coach on the hot seat. If you compare his program at UC to his program at Auburn (that he led to a pristine season), Tuberville is ahead of schedule.
He's progression at Auburn was:
5-6, 9-4, 7-5, 9-4, 8-5,
13-0
The bottom line is to just hold your water. Gunner Kiel's Senior season will be special, and the man is building something good at UC, and that takes time.
If you're going to compare that to Tom Herman and UH, you're just going to sell yourselves short. That's not realistic.
Just turn that frown upside down. You know I'm right.
