Not crabby, just not excited about 2 coaches with no history of being a coordinator, and of course Rodney is still here with Jordan Lynch playing qb..

If they turn out to be great hires then I am happy that we got them cheap and on their uprise... But not going to celebrate because we have nothing to base their skills on.

Kansas was 128th in total defense(that is dead last by the way)...below everyone including (EMU, Ball St, New Mexico St, North Texas, Idaho, Louisiana Monroe)

Do you not know the history of either coordinator? I'm confused.

Also, maybe learn a little bit about Kansas football, their coaching history, their scholarship athletes, etc. You might learn why they weren't very good lol.

Very happy with Kaner. He has the energy we need to get this defense going after that lifeless end to the season.

My god. Are you just feeling like playing the role of board troll?

You don't have the funds to go out and get bonafide coordinators unless they are retreads like Canada. The finances just aren't there. If you want to change that, take all that market and trading expertise and use those big donor bucks of yours to make a difference.

Compher was a dope but he had a great quote when Doeren left. "Better a launching pad than a graveyard."

Since Joe we have always been good at identifying coaching talent, like players, that are underrated and have big upside.

I know a lot of folks in the coaching circles and former players that were coached by U and I haven't heard a bad thing about the guy. He's a great football coach, tireless recruitor and kids love playing for him. Now game planning and play calling is a different skill set so we'll see, but he took a program that was hot garbage for decades and turned them into a pretty competitive, winning squad (St. Francis). I think it was absolutely the right hire.

Love Kane too...don't have quite the knowledge on him but I think he fits that same mold of huge upside.

RE: New Huskie DC
if you don't like the regime and the strategy of the past 5 years, then I can see why you wouldn't like these two hires. Anyone who thought SF was going to demand Carey make huge changes, just got their answer...NIU is going to keep doing what it's done in the recent past, hopefully it works better than the last 3 games last year and if they can keep bring in talent and just get a little more creative on offense, it should be good.

I've always thought Kane had promise and could be a future head coach...just from what I noticed going to a few practices over the years...welcome back coach.

Kevin Kane is listed as DC/LB coach on the Huskies website. Mike Uremovich is listed as the OC, and there currently is no QB coach listed.

Need to assign a QB coach and hire one more defensive coach to handle safeties.

I forgot that Niemann coached the safeties. I wonder if maybe they change Sigler's title to Defensive Backs coach and give him a little raise.

Maybe move Copeland or Harmon to QBs if the rest of the offensive staff returns? And the last D assistant may depend on how Kane wants to divide labor. Could even imagine a DE/OLB coach besides the usual inside/outside divides

I am thinking the opposite. Assign the safeties to Sigler give the Def 1 GA from the O and hire the best QB coach we can. No skimping here!

No one on the staff has ever coached QBs (according to their bio's). Harmon is the closest we have with college QB coaching experience as he is a former D1 QB and OC besides Coach U as a NAIA OC...but if it was going to be Coach U it would have already been announced I think.

I have my reservations on Kane. Feel a promotion is in line to reward great effort. Kansas gave up 40-60 pts 8 times in their O fer season. I know they were not his recruits but coaching is accountability. If he is the def coordinator that is a big step. I get the continuity but we just got worse on D in my mind.maybe better on recruits. Jury can deliberate now

He was a position coach, not a coordinator. Can't blame Kane for the Jayhawks being completely terrible when he was there for one season.
