I hope this is sarcasm. The team has come far, but they aren't contenders yet.

RE: C-USA Hoops question.
I'm all for Marshall being a top team in C-USA.

The real question is, will UTSA be able to give anyone in the conference a game. I really hate playing pick a number with a team in the conference.

They already beat Rice and scored over 80 points on us.

RE: C-USA Hoops question.
Why do some Marshall posters set the rest of us up for stuff like this? So silly.

I do think we have the chance to be around #5 in the league once the CUSA tournament rolls around. I also foresee one or two upsets ala UTEP last year.

So far, they look good.

I'm actually tempted to put Marshall in the top 4, but I need to see a bigger sample. We'll know more in about 2 weeks.

I thought the same just over a week ago but I think this team is actually improving. If they keep that up they may be a contender come conference tournament time. So let's leave the Miners on that list and see how they do.

the conference used to say the same thing about UAB's football team when they had a team... 07-coffee3

RE: C-USA Hoops question.
I thought it was funny. It's called saying something so absurd and asinine that it's clearly just good fun.

And it's always more fun when there's just a hint of truth to it :)

I remember in 2001, Marshall football played its season opener at No. 1 Florida. Got stomped by the Gators, 49-14. Really wasn't competitive. Anyway, we had only lost that game and after Florida got beat, I went to their message board (we had good back and forth) and told them thanks for ruining our strength of schedule. I kid you not, their board went from meltdown mode to a much better, lighter tone after that.

Just wanted to share that story because we blew it at Toledo in the MAC Championship, went to the GAMC Bowl, fell behind 38-8 against ECU at half and then...well the rest is history.

So, carry on 04-cheers

OT - was just curious is ASN also carrying CUSA basketball games? We have an ASN affiliate in Savannah and they haven't shown any that I have noticed so I was just wondering.

ASN had a tripleheader Sunday, but locally, we could only watch WKU at Marshall.

Sinclair has 6 channels in the Huntington-Charleston market (65 DMA), counting 4 digital substations. It was disappointing that the other 2 games weren't carried somewhere.

Basketball games don't get many local affiliates. They get picked up more by regional sports networks like MASN, CSN Chicago, and Cox Sports.
