Frankly, the AAC is probably a 1-bid conference.

I don't know if we're NIT bound or not... I said it when Temple blew us up; if not the NIT (or the NCAA), then I hope we have enough self-esteem to turn down any invitation to the CBI or the other crap tournaments out there.

I mean, Tuberville might consider it a "reward" for a good season, but I expect more out of the basketball program. NCAA and NIT are acceptable. If we miss on those, then we don't deserve to be playing in late March.

I agree. It sure is hard living in this area to hide from sports when you are surrounded by OSU, XU, UK, ND, Steelers, and Cubs fans. I am going need to move to Montana and live in the woods.

Yep. IS it just me or has anyone else notice an uptick of late of people wearing OSU gear around town the past few months?

Can you blame them? People hate losing. UK, OSU, steelers don't lose. Many Cincinnatians picked the winning side years ago. I'm an alum and die hard, but I think I just died hard. This season has killed me and I'm just waiting for UCONN and Houston to join the Big12 and put us all out of our misery for good.

Look for more and more of this to come. Casual fans aren't going to have any interest in following any of UC'S Mediocre teams. They will jump ship to OSU, UK or X. I doubt most casual fans could name a single player on this team.

LOL what?! 2 bids is a little high...with SMU ineligible this conference has ZERO at large teams right now. In 2006 who would have ever dreamed this would happen in UC? Xavier is king and we are mid majors. Period. I am sick to my stomach and need a new hobby that doesn't make me sick

we are mid major...agree

Easy to do when you do not have to worry about foul trouble.

we settle for too many perimeter shots

Agree. Would be nice if the refs would have called a foul when we took it inside. We get called for everything, they got away with a ton of contact all game inside. But we went away from it too much.

I agree too. But why wasn't Caupain taking it inside with the seven point lead? At that point it looked like a total cluster offensively; same old, same old. Run the shot clock down to a couple of seconds and jack up an off balance desperation three.

I'm really tired of watching the same mistakes over and over and I continue to be amazed at how many fans don't want to hold a highly compensated, tenth year coach accountable. Every season we watch up and coming coaches build winning tournament teams after two to three years of recruiting.

You realize we had a bunch of paint buckets right? More than smu. But when you can't get a fouls down there hard to do much more.

After the Christmas Eve debacle I was really down and not loving college football with my normal fervor. Now the "fans" in this thread are trying thyeir collective damnedest to make me want to puke on each and every one of them and begin to lose faith in the BB bearcats. I won't do that. I may just have to go away from this board for a while just to stay away from the naysayers and that is truly a shame. The naysayers are winning.

What do you want us to do, exactly? Fire Mick mid season? That's a helluva thing to do and doubtless would end this season. You want us to put him in stocks and pillory him? You want us all to denounce him publicly and burn him in effigy?

Again...Mick has done more for UC and that earns him a bad season in my book. Yeah, this season is pretty much a write off. Yeah, I'm not happy about it. But it is what it is. Get over it.

I'll use the same damn tactic the Tuberville fans use on me: FINE. You want Mick gone? Who are you going to put in charge of the program? If Mick goes, I'm pretty sure Larry Davis will go too. I would if I were in his shoes, and frankly he's part of the staff you want to hold "accountable." Who are you going to find to come and run this program to your satisfaction?

Oh, and Huggins isn't available.

Freaking seriously, did anyone else watch the game? We killed it in the paint in the first half, then everyone fouled out. That is not why we lost. We lost because we went brain dead up 7 with the fulking ball with 3 minutes to go. Good lord everyone, get a fracking clue.

We made 23 fgs, 8 of 23 from 3. Add a few fast break baskets off turnovers and you are looking at about 10 fg's in the paint.

We continually gave up the baseline causing bigs to have to rotate over. Moore can't slide on D and turns to the side allowing his man to go by. Thus you put DeBerry, Ellis in the position to be foul prone. The refs didn't do us any favors but it wasn't the end all to the game.

Nope, I never suggested firing Mick mid-season, nor would I. And I'm not a Huggins defender.

But a respected former athletic director I knew, who has hired successful D1 coaches used to tell me that there are always rising young coaches who are building winning programs in lesser schools who would see real opportunity at a place with UC's compensation, resources and tradition. That formula worked pretty well on three occasions for UC football recently. And college basketball fortunes can rise much faster than football with just a few key recruits.

Of course that is not going to happen, Jerry. One thing keeps ringing in my mind though. 1 sweet 16 in 10 years, at a school that used to define itself through basketball. Is that fair? Not sure. Did Huggs do better his last half dozen or so years? Not sure. I am starting to question the methods though. We now are recruiting basketball players, ie: Evans, Cumberland, Jennifer etc, I am just waiting for the results. How long should we wait?

UC has way more potential than alot of people realize. No, we are not hiring Brad Stevens, Calipari, or Huggins again. But there are a hell of alot of rising coaches who are out there, as long as you have the right people looking.

This team blew it so hard down the stretch it's disgusting. It was like the opposite of watching our home games from this year. We let them back in it on the road just like we've done at home. It's a sickening pattern. We outplayed them significantly in that game.

I felt the win turned to a loss the moment we jacked up a 3 with a 7 point lead and 3 minutes to go.

Mickey out coached and there is no leadership on this team. Ellis is a major bust this year.

19 FTs for SMU to 4 for UC. 5 min into the second half I couldn't believe how one sided it was. The exact same play inside happened multiple times and UC never got a foul call. AND THYE STILL SHOULD HAVE WON.

I don't think you can compare a team now, stuck in a low level conference to Huggins teams. There wasn't anywhere close to the disparity between the P5 and other conferences like there is now. We fall behind by 60-80 million dollars EVERY YEAR we're stuck in this **** conference.
