I was going to guess 1,249 for the attendance so I was fairly close. It always looks like like real attendance is a few hundred less than announced attendance, to me. There were a few more people than usual, but it was snowing and windy on the way to DeKalb so that probably made a few people stay home.

Certainly NIU fans shouldn't get on EMU about basketball attendance.

I would dispute the point that "EMU is better than NIU". It's possible. We don't normally shoot close to 100% on free throws and have guys making every 3-pointer. But we were due for a good game finally. And our outside shooting has been better than it years past, though still streaky.

BTW, some crowds, e.g., CMU (I think) and NIU, could have been hurt by students not being in school.

Lets be honest I was surprised at the poor effort on our guards in terms of giving up turnovers. I wasn't surprised at the poor 3 point shooting because this team is streaky. And to give credit to NIU the man to man defense really harassed our guards. And I wasn't surprised that NIU outrebounded us, our lack of front court has been on display for a while, of course next year when we add two 6'9 240 pound plus center/forwards we'll have fun and Thompson can truly play the defense he's capable of all game long without foul trouble.

As for NIU its a long season they caught us on a bad shooting unfocused night. The unfocused part is what Murphy and company need to fix this week.

When we play like we did against CMU we talk post season, when we play like we did at NIU we're .500 team.

Let NIU enjoy its minute in the sun.

I don't think EMU is better than NIU. Also after two conference games Travon Baker has been the best player and will be MAC player of the week. EMU will not play like they did against CMU many times. CMU does not play defense. Lastly, I feel EMU and NIU are pretty even and neither one is better than Akron!
